This article was intended to be posted on my Medium account but I've decided that Vocal seems to be the right place for this sort of thing.

This is me

ME: "Hello, my name is Jason…and I like watching movies and TV series."

EVERYONE: "Hello, Jason."

Well, that seemed a bit rehearsed. Let me try that again, I really enjoy watching movies and TV series because I like the feeling of escapism and I really do enjoy dissecting small details about each and every scene in them, I am however not an expert by any means and do this out of pure fun and entertainment.

My article

At first I didn't think anyone would read my article because it was short and there are probably too many pictures and videos, but it turns out the number don't actually lie.

When I saw that the number kept going up I was surprised because at first the amount of views and reads were as much as I could count on one hand, but then each day the numbers kept on going up.

All though the numbers seems to be staying the same but each day it seems like there are some new readers for this article that was posted around May of 2020.

Why I started writing?

I started writing because I felt like I should do something different during quarantine and then I found out my writing was bad and so I gave up for a while…but then one night I was like maybe I should actually right an article about the topic I want to write without worrying about the numbers of reads and views I was not getting. I started making a mental list of things I am good at and then realizing i wasn't good at anything or well-versed in anything, but sometimes you don't really need to be a professional to write about something you love, usually it is the fire of your own passion towards the topic.

Why I write about my movies and TV series

I might have to take you on a walk down memory lane on this one, I had an English teacher who told while I was struggling to write an essay for class,

"Write what you know."

At the time it caught me off guard and I didn't understand it because I didn't know what I needed to know, I am ashamed to say that I was not much of a reader and still not today and so my writing might feel a bit off or maybe the way I'm writing seems quite childish.

Let's get back to that quote, he was right and I should write what I know and what I know also happens to be my passion, I will say however that not all articles will stick the landing but there will be that one or a couple that would bring people to your article.

There are so many types of articles on Medium and also other platforms and you don't have to be shy about what you are writing about. The articles you see on Medium and other platforms alike are overwhelming when you first arrive on the sites. They are mostly about how to write, tech news, business, however these sites can be so much more than that.
