Your house is your sanctuary, your safe place where you can relax, take off your shoes, and forget about your troubles by drowning them in endless Netflix shows and movies. However it is also your jail, limiting your potential, your social life, your opportunities and your motivation.

Adding adventure and excitement into your life is lifestyle change. The first step is to leave the comfort of your house behind, to open yourself to the potential of opportunity, and to explore the activities and connections right outside your door.

Going for coffee, going to the gym, surfing the web at the library instead of at home, taking a walk or going out for a drink all provide for an increase in potential of new experience and connections. The important part isn't the activity you set out to do, it's the exposure to potential.

Simply going on a walk opens you up to the potential of new experience. You may bump into someone you know, striking up a conversation that leads to an invite to coffee, news of upcoming events, or an invite to join them on whatever activity has brought them outside. You may see a sign for an interesting event/activity in your area that leads to another outing, a new hobby, or most importantly, a new experience.

The following story is an actual example from several years ago;

"It was Friday night, and I had no plans. Rather than stay in and mope around in boredom, I decided I would go out and try to find something to do. I through on my coat and started walking, with no idea where to start, or where to go. Less than a minute later, I saw a girl walking up the street. She looked familiar, but I couldn't place where I knew her from. As we passed, she stopped looking puzzled. She told me I looked familiar. I admitted I had been thinking the same thing. We started talking, and we came to the conclusion that we had never met, however we had gone to the same school several years before. We must have passed each other in the halls. She told me she was going to a party with people from that school, and that I was welcome to join. "

By simply exposing myself to a higher potential of activity, I had found something to do on my Friday night and made a new friend. This is one of many stories I could share about how simply opening up to opportunity has lead to interesting and exciting experience and activities.

Sure, your not going to stumble across something interesting every time you leave the house, but your chances are much higher than they would be sitting on your couch.

Sometimes the hardest part of change is knowing how to start. Maybe you want to mix things up, or maybe your don't know what you want - but your unhappy with where you are. Whatever the reason is, the first step is literally a step out your front door.
