Why We Keep Delaying our Goals ?
Why do we always leave for tomorrow the things we can make today ?

Have you feel being stuck in life ? It might be difficult for someone to kind of feel this way. You might want to move on in life and you might start searching on the internet how to grow as a person. So you start also searching on the habits that successful people do on a daily basis: Wake up early, drink a glass of water first thing in the morning, do exercise, take a mindful shower, make a healthy breakfast, read a book, meditate for 10 minutes, being in the present moment, etc.
Why does some of these habits might look difficult to achieve ?
Once people know what they should be doing to improve themselves, many of them don’t actually do anything and decide to do it tomorrow. This might come as a lack of motivation, or maybe you feel some kind of obstacle to not doing what you should be doing. Of course, we have our own personal activities that we usually leave for tomorrow. They can be habits to improve ourselves, or a personal project that you dream to achieve, looking for a new job, etc.
In my experience, I have always wanted to have a great body by going to the gym and choosing to eat as many healthy calories as possible to gain muscle and lose fat. But what happened you may ask ? We stop focusing on our goals and start to focus on the short term results. As I was going to the gym after three months, I didn’t notice any astounding change and my motivation went down. I started feeling that doing the workouts at the gym wasn’t worth it and said: Well, tomorrow I can do the workout. In that time I was hired to work and the only time I got to do exercise was if I woke up at 5:30 am. I decided it wasn’t worth it to wake up too early to do exercise but as time passed, I stop doing any kind of exercise. Six months later, I found my condition was very poor. I took the stairs because the elevator wasn’t functioning and literally I couldn’t hold my breath (and they were only four floors). In that moment, I realized that I have been postponed my health just because I wasn’t looking like I wanted to look ( physically).
This is just one example of how people might stop doing the things they know will benefit them in the long run, but stop doing them because they don’t see an immediate result. You might want to publish a book and because it might look very difficult to finish, you might postpone your writing for tomorrow. Other people might have the goal to start a food business but because you need to make a lot of market research, you might say: Well, I might do it tomorrow. The one example many people have experienced is the one when you put your alarm at 6 am to start your new habit of waking up early. You wake up and feel tired and say: I don’t feel too energetic to start the day now, I will go to sleep now and see if tomorrow I can wake up early.
Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Take the moment and make it perfect.
Imagine if every person wanted to wait for the perfect mindset or the perfect situation to start doing what they know they should be doing to improve themselves. We always want the perfect condition to arrive to start moving, but the real thing is, we need to move forward, even if we don’t feel that motivated or in the mood of doing it. If we know inside ourselves we want to achieve great things in life, we need to stop delaying the things we could do today for a tomorrow we don’t know it will arrive.
The best time to start was yesterday. The next best time is today.
Everything worth achieving takes time. A book takes time to finish, a worthwhile job takes time to find, losing weight takes time, if you are very skinny it takes time to gain weight, opening your small business takes time, learning to play the piano takes time, to master an academic field takes time, to master meditation takes time, nourishing a relationship takes time. Anything you are seeking in life is worth doing and you should not stop until you achieve it. Just think anything you wanted to make but you have been postponed it time and time again. Imagine if you have started it one day ago, one week ago, one month ago, six months ago or even a year ago. How much would you think would have accomplished if you have started and not giving up your dreams. But not feel bad for all the time you have been rearranging your goals beacuse I have good news for you: The best moment to start achieving your goals and dreams is in this very present moment.
