When God tells your Mom "GET HOME NOW!"

A True Story from my younger days

I was raised in a Christian home with a Christian Momma. And she prayed all the time. All. The. Time. She would pray for (and with) her kids, family members, neighbors, church members and anyone else that God led her to pray for or anyone that asked her to pray with them.

We always said she had a “hotline to God.” Why? Because when she prayed things happened. And she always had her ear toward heaven to “listen” for any instructions that came from her Heavenly Father.

When I became a grown adult she shared a story with me. A true story that happened when I was only a few years old.

On a summer day, she had been visiting with her Mother. Her Mother lived about four to five blocks away from us, just on the other side of the plat we lived in. Our Dad was home with us that day and was watching, at that time, just the three of us kids.

Mom sat and visited with Grandma for a while, I'm sure she was sitting there drinking a cup of hot tea that Grandma always served to anyone who came to visit her. As she was having her visit with Grandma she told me that she had a passing thought that she needed to go home. After a couple of minutes that “passing thought” became an overwhelming urge, one that was persistent and overwhelming. It wouldn't go away. To her, it was obvious that she knew without a doubt that God was telling her to “GET HOME NOW!” She quickly excused herself from the visit telling Grandma that she needed to get home. Mom gathered her things, ran to her car, and got in it to drive home.

As she walked in the house nothing seemed to be out of order. The house was quiet. I'm sure Dad thought we were all playing in our room quietly. Then she began looking for me to see where I was at. She went down the hall, opened the door to my bedroom and there she found me with a hairpin at the end of my tongue getting ready to jamb it into the electrical outlet that was only a couple of inches from my mouth. Yep. True story.

I have other stories that I will share about incidents in my life where God had His hand on me. Those are for another time. This one I will share for now. It is a strong reminder to me of how much of a voice praying Mothers have in the Heavenly realm.

My Mom left us in July 2015. Since her passing I have learned so many things. I have learned that the people who have prayed for us do NOT have to be here in order for their prayers to come to pass. God hears prayers and HE is the one that brings them to pass and not the person who prayed them. I have seen her prayers come to pass following her passing.

I used to feel sad that she was not here to actually see her prayers coming to fruition but then it occurred to me that she has a better view of them being fulfulled than I do. She actually gets to see it in motion! She gets to see HOW God answers prayers. That thought gives me peace.

I will forever be thankful for the prayers my Mom prayed over me that I didn't even know about. She prayed a covering of protection over us before we could even comprehend the power that is contained in prayers. Especially a Mother's prayer.
