Untethered.

What if we all lived in a world that taught us how to become untethered. A place were we learn how to release ourselves from golden handcuffs and narratives that no longer align with who we are. What if we were given the power to choose what makes us happy regardless of what that means to someone else? What if we were able to do this all the while being supported by the community around us.

Why are we constantly having to fight to prove what we need in this life time? Is it just me, or do you feel this way too? As we get older it is natural for change to occur. Change in our bodies, change in our personalities and change in our values. But too many times when someone goes through change, it is met with adversity. "You've changed" says the crowd around you. "You're not the same" haunts the choir. So many of us have heard these statements and this adversity, and it causes doubt and fear amongst the individual that is interested in changing. Depending on the environment the individual associates with, embracing change can be quite difficult. But why? Why is our culture so adamant about staying the same?

It is our Ego that protects us from danger, yet the very same Ego can cause crippling fear in leaning into new aspects of self. Our society has evolved to the point where most not only fear change but we are so afraid, that we fear when another changes around us. This is quite comical when you break it down. The self identity becomes so attached to a narrative that even when someone close to you changes, this may cause for you to introspectively ask yourself how their change may affect YOU (even though the change might not have anything to do with you).

In my own life, I have learned that people pleasing, adhering to other’s expectations, and refusing to allow change, can cause your life to sway in the wrong direction. Also this resistance to change is detrimental to your overall wellness and peace. Not only do you become the victim to pleasing others. You also lose yourself in the meantime. You lose the ability to make decisions that are in ALIGNMENT with who you are in the present moment and what is best for you. People pleasing and refusing to acknowledge your own personal changes causes you to sway so far off your life path that you lose the ability to see which way you are supposed to go in order to be happy. I can speak on this from my own experience.

I envision a world where everyone Practice's Kindness and is supported while we follow our hearts desire. I also crave a world where an adult can be guided towards finding their passion and following their dreams.

There are many programs, self help books, classes, workshops that are readily available for an individual to sign up for. Which is a blessing as well as amazing. These are all found and utilized for most in their 20's and 30's when the subconscious has already held its programming for a very long time. With that said, as a society we need to provide assistance earlier.

How do we fix this? This would require all of us to be equipped with the tools needed to be able to adapt to change for ourselves and those around us. These tools need to be provided to us early on in our development. Learning to read and do maths is standard practice in our society. Reacting to change of ourselves and those around us should be apart of the academics as well. Preferably grade school especially before the subconscious is fully formed.

What if you had the tools to become untethered. What if we all leaned into change instead of fearing it. What if we all as a tribe helped each other choose change.

Celebrating change and pursuing happiness at all costs. Not accepting “maybe’s” as “Yes’s”. Imagine making decisions without doubt. Imagine moving forward without a map. Imagine pleasing your heart first. Become Untethered. One feel good decision at a time. Let's all make choices with our hearts and not just our minds.
