The Truth About People – A Journey Through Changing Hearts

Some gave me pure lies.

By Noor khanPublished 7 months ago 3 min read

Once upon a time, people felt so genuinely kind.

Their words were gentle, filled with care.

Their smiles carried warmth, not calculation.

Hearts looked sincere, as if untouched by the world’s bitterness.

When they made a promise, they meant every word.

Everything felt simpler, softer — more human.

But slowly, everything began to shift.

The smiles faded.

The warmth became a performance.

Words lost their truth and carried hidden pain.

People began to wear masks — not to protect, but to hide.

What was once genuine became artificial.

What was once open-hearted became guarded and cold.

Some gave me sweet lies, wrapped in fake care.

Some silently broke promises they never intended to keep.

Some walked away without reason.

Some stayed just long enough to hurt, then vanished without goodbye.

And suddenly, the journey turned bitter.

My heart, once trusting, became cautious.

People once felt like soft clouds — calm and comforting.

Now they feel like storms wearing a smile.

Some were only kind when it benefited them.

Some used me, and when done, left as if I was nothing.

Some showed concern, but it was always an act.

They remembered me when they needed something…

and forgot me the moment I had needs of my own.

That’s when I began asking myself difficult questions:

Who can I truly trust now?

Who loves me for who I am — not for what I offer?

Who will stand beside my soul, even when I’m silent and broken?

Who will speak to me without pretending?

Life began to teach me harsh but necessary truths.

People change like seasons — quickly and without warning.

They appear when they need you.

They disappear when their needs are fulfilled.

They act kind, but don’t feel kind.

They pretend to care, but don’t even notice your pain.

So I chose silence over words.

I smiled to hide the ache.

My heart began to hold storms no one saw.

My voice became calm, but my soul grew careful.

My dreams stayed private — because not everyone deserves to know them.

People will always come and go.

Some will teach you wisdom.

Some will leave scars you didn’t ask for.

Some will lie without shame.

Some will smile while stabbing your trust.

Some pretend to love — but never really do.

And I’ve learned this now, deeply:

Stay away from hearts that feel cold.

Speak less with those whose souls feel empty.

Don’t believe every beautiful word.

Protect your peace like it’s gold.

Your heart is not for everyone to touch.

Life has become my greatest teacher.

And people… people are now just short chapters.

Everyone hides pain, even the ones who seem happiest.

Every face wears a mask — some smiling, some silent.

Some people reflect truth like mirrors.

Others only create fog like smoke.

Some people come as blessings.

Some stay as open wounds.

Some become your most tender memories.

Some disappear like they were never real.

And some… only exist in the quiet of your dreams.

Those who left — taught me strength.

Those who stayed — gave me peace.

Those who changed — gave me understanding.

Those who lied — taught me honesty.

Those who hurt me — made me powerful.

Now I feel stronger than ever.

I don’t cry easily anymore.

I don’t expect too much.

I don’t fall in love too fast.

And I certainly don’t believe every “I care.”

I made a new promise — not to others, but to myself:

I will understand my soul better.

I will love myself fully.

I will stand by my side no matter what.

I will never let myself feel alone again.

People may come and go.

But I… I will not change for them.

Even if the world forgets me,

I will remember my own worth.

I’ll remain true to who I am.

This is my life story —

Written through the faces I once trusted.

Shared from heart to heart,

Hoping it reaches your soul…

And maybe, just maybe — you’ll learn something from it too.
