Peyush Bansal secured his first position at Microsoft, USA, after earning a degree in electrical engineering. He spent almost a year working as a program manager before resigning and returning to India in 2008.

Peyush left his position at Microsoft because he had no interest in engineering. After arriving home in India, he started looking for business venture ideas.

Peyush founded his first company, SearchMycampus, in 2007 despite having no prior business experience while studying entrepreneurship at IIM, Bangalore.

A website called SearchMycampus was created to assist students in finding information about jobs, housing, coaching, internships, transportation, books, and other topics. Following the mediocre success of his first business, Peyush founded a few startups that did quite well.

In 2010, he co-founded Lenskart with his friends Amit Chaudhary and Sumeet Kapahi. Peyush's inspiration came from statistics on blind people in India, which revealed that few of them wore eyeglasses. As a result, he wanted to help a lot of people see better by giving them glasses.

At Lenskart, Peyush holds the positions of Chief Executive and People Officer. Faridabad, in the Delhi NCR, serves as the company's headquarters. At first, Lenskart only sold contact lenses, but as it gradually gained popularity, it began to expand.

Today, Lenskart operates more than 1100 stores in various Indian cities, providing more than 5000 different eyewear styles. In 2019, the online eyewear retailer joined the unicorn club.
