The Mirror of Life: As Above, So Below
What my garden taught me about the Universe

Did you ever face those moments where something totally small and ordinary suddenly hits you with profound wisdom?
That’s what happened to me while I was in my tiny backyard garden.
When A Seed Sparked an Epiphany
I was planting tomatoes, dirt under my fingernails, when I held up a tiny seed and looked at it. Like, really looked at it.
Inside that speck, no bigger than my pinky nail, was an entire tomato plant waiting to burst into life.
And the wild part is that same pattern, of huge things contained in tiny packages, is everywhere once you start paying attention.
It’s like that old wisdom “As Above, So Below”
This isn’t just some fancy philosophical idea.
It’s right here, in my garden, in my life, in everything.

Finding Patterns in Chaos
I was stressed about a work project, last week that felt completely overwhelming.
Then I remembered my garden.
Every spring, it starts as dirt, and honestly, it looks pretty hopeless.
But day by day, seed by seed, it transforms into this amazing place full of life.
Isn’t that just like any big challenge we face?
Be it a crazy work deadline, or a personal goal that we’re struggling with, the key is to remember to take it one step at a time.
Think about it, a massive oak tree, hundreds of feet tall, grows from a single tiny acorn. One cell at a time.
It’s wild when you really stop to think about it, isn’t it?
Nature is practically shouting these secrets at us, but we’re all just moving too fast to hear it.
The answers are right in front of us, if we’d just slow down to notice.

The Universe in Your Coffee Cup
So, next time whenever you’re adding cream to your coffee, pause for a moment and watch that the swirling pattern of it looking exactly like photos of galaxies spinning in space.
Yeah, I’m not kidding!
I can’t help but wonder that the universe might be showing us its secrets in our morning brew?
When Small Things Matter
I used to think my little actions didn’t matter much in the grand scheme of things.
That we’re weird little humans, just trying to get to the end of the day.
But then I watched how one diseased plant in my garden could affect everything around it.
Or how one act of kindness can start a chain reaction in my life.
Remember the “Butterfly Effect Theory?”
A butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil might cause a tornado in Texas, right?
Sometimes I think about how my choices, even the tiny ones, the ones I thought had no significance in my life, these choices ripple out into the world, in ways I might never see.
What My Garden Knows (That I’m Still Learning)
The more time I spend in my garden, the more I realize it’s teaching me about life, the universe, and pretty much everything.
Here’s what I’ve learned from it:
- Every ending contains a new beginning (just ask my compost pile)
- Growth isn’t always visible (roots grow before shoots)
- Everything’s connected (try pulling one weed without disturbing its neighbours)

We are all space gardeners and sometimes we are sowing the seeds of change in our own lives.
The key to understanding the big is to pay attention to the small.
Next time you feel that you are getting lost in this scale of life, try to observe these patterns around you.
You can find cosmic wisdom in raindrops, spiderwebs, or even in your morning coffee.
If a whole plant can grow from a small seed, who knows what insights are hidden in the ordinary moments of your day?
Next time someone tells you to “think big,” remember that sometimes the biggest truth is in the smallest package.
At least that’s what my garden is trying to tell me.
What patterns have you noticed lately?
Believe me, when you start looking closely, you will see them everywhere. And maybe they’re trying to tell you something important.
Thanks for reading!
