The Growth of A Rose
At the end of the day, we are all living things.

We all see the gentle petals, hugging each other, each leading to the next as we watch the vortex form their heart. We all notice the leaves, the vibrant green, exalting the blossoms. We all know the smell, the sweet perfume dispersed from their breath. But we all forget the thorns, the pitfall behind that picture of perfection.
You see, every one of us starts as a seed, we get planted in this earth and begin to germinate. Our first taste of earth as our roots establish our very being, feeding off our surroundings. The sheer moment that initiates life, a small stem that takes its first tilt in its own direction.
As we grow, we reveal our first leaves, we will choose our suited branch ways and continue to survive and mature from the elements that confine us. We learn to give back to that which helped us be, providing our share of fresher air to the atmosphere that lets us live.
We develop our first buds, birthing the discovery of our potential beauty. Our branches continue to disperse as we discover new paths and directions. It is here we start to flourish, uncovering the very essence of our delicacy.
Inevitably, we materialise our thorns. We establish our ability to guard ourselves and discover the power to hurt if mishandled. Nevertheless, we see a magnificent plant, individual and mature, with its own unique story.
The sight is beautiful, so beautiful we tend to overlook the daggers that attach to this elegant shrub. It is not all that bad to see the best in things, the problem is, however, learning to accept the existence of these defences and understand their reason for vitality.
Fundamentally, it is what the roots consume from the soil, water and light that makes them into what they become. Consequently, bad soil, water, and darkness can cause such a being to fall sick, or wound.
When thought about, you can see the similarity between the growth of a rose and the raising of a human.
We start by learning our general direction to expand and form our first ideas. We go to school, grow up and start to learn of the world around us and welcome new concepts, dreams, and possibilities at hand. We continue to learn and try different paths as we discover who we are and persist in remodelling ourselves to find our true form. Only then can we develop into a graciously matured being balancing beauty and preservation.
As with any growth, we build certain walls and ways to protect ourselves from any hurt we encounter. We adapt from our learnings and surroundings. If the soil and water for the plant aren't right, it will deteriorate or get sick from its impact. If the plant doesn’t get treated and is left in such soil, its beautiful flowers will dim and it will end up dying.
Our surroundings, environment, and the way we get treated greatly affects our ability to blossom.
Every person has the right to search for a happy ending, and every person has the right to support. Be kind, be supportive, and don’t be afraid to ask for help if you find yourself on the wrong track.
We are products of our surroundings. Help one another bloom.

A story has to power to make you understand. A story has to power to make you feel. A story has the power to make you think. That is the beauty in literature.
