There is a saying in Sun Tzu's Art of War: "What is false is what is true, and what is true is what is false". It means that what you see is false, but it is real, and what you see is real, is actually false. True and false, false and true, the appearance and essence of things are often very different. What we can see is often just the tip of the iceberg floating on the water, not the so-called truth.

01 Seeing is not necessarily believing.

There is a saying in "Xingshihengyan": "Seeing is right, rumors may not be true." It means that what you see with your own eyes is the truth, and the news from others cannot be taken seriously. But is this really the case? There is such a story in "Lu's Spring and Autumn". When Confucius and his disciples traveled around the world, they were tired from the journey, and they did not eat three meals a day. One day, Yan Hui asked for some white rice to cook. When the rice was cooked, Confucius saw that Yan Hui was secretly eating with his hands, and he felt unhappy. When the meal was on the table, Confucius said, "I just dreamed of my ancestors, so let's bring clean rice to sacrifice to our ancestors!" Yan Hui said in a panic, "No, I have already eaten a bite of this pot of rice, I can't It is used to worship ancestors." Confucius asked, "Why?" Yan Hui replied embarrassedly: "There is dust in the pot, and it would be a pity to throw away the white rice, so I picked it up and ate it." After listening to Confucius , said with shame: "Those who believe are eyes, but eyes are not credible." This is to say that even if we believe our eyes, what we see may not necessarily be true.

Even Sage Kong would easily doubt Yan Hui's character, not to mention you and me? But Confucius can quickly understand the truth of the matter, eliminate doubts, and reflect on himself, so what about us? In the end, what the eyes see is always the appearance, broaden your horizons and see what others can't see, then you can read the world.

02 Prejudice is more terrible than ignorance.

"Xunzi" has a saying: "The troubles of ordinary people are hidden in one song and dark in Dali." The problem of ordinary people is often that they are easily deceived by partial prejudice and cannot see the overall situation. Prejudice is innate in us, so everyone's truth is different, but there is always only one truth. When you look at things with prejudice, your cognition will become more and more narrow, and the truth you see will always be just an illusion. We have all heard the story of the blind man touching the elephant. There are five blind people who want to know what an elephant looks like, but are born blind and can only perceive with their hands. The first blind man touched the elephant's leg and said, "The elephant is a big pillar!" The second blind man touched the elephant's trunk and said hurriedly, "Wrong, wrong, the elephant is thick and long. It's like a boa constrictor." The third blind man touched the elephant's ears and retorted, "You are all wrong, the elephant is actually like a big fan." The fourth blind man touched the elephant's body and said: "The elephant is obviously a wall. It's thick and strong." Finally, the blind man who touched the elephant's tail said loudly, "You are all wrong. In my opinion, this is a thick rope." A blind man clings to his own prejudices, thinking that his ideas are the right ones, and quarrels endlessly. Obviously, they are all wrong. People with only prejudice in their hearts can never see the truth of things. Buddhists have a saying: "Get rid of self-attachment, get rid of prejudice, all things are accessible in the heart, and there is no limit." Don't be a blind person with open eyes in this bright society!

Only by abandoning your prejudices and opening your own thinking can you break through the inherent level of cognition and see the truth of things. When you are no longer centered on self-experience, introspect after accepting it in advance, and be more tolerant and less arrogant, you will be able to have a clear understanding of human nature and insight into world affairs.

03 I agree with the sentence: "Cognition is an insurmountable gap between people."

Your level of cognition determines the height of your life, and your whole life is also paying for cognition. Most of us are ordinary people who trust our own eyes, manage our own prejudices, and constantly struggle in the cage of our own cognitive thinking. But as Yang Jiang said: "Although people are small and life is short, people can learn, self-cultivation, self-improvement, and the value of people is in themselves."

How to improve your cognitive level and level? Do the following three things:

1. Think deeply

Educated people are not necessarily literate, literate people are not necessarily talented, and talented people are not necessarily wise. Wisdom is the essence of cognition, which is higher than the dimension of knowledge culture. In order to improve the cognitive level, the accumulation of knowledge and skills is not enough, but also the ability to think deeply. In many cases, the improvement of cognitive level is that after you see some superficial problems, you can think for a while, and then understand its deep meaning and see what others can’t see.

2. Lifelong Learning

Gou daily new, daily new, daily new. Times are changing, perceptions are changing, and if you are stagnant, you are regressing. Then your three views and cognition will become more and more narrow, like sitting in a well and watching the sky. As the saying goes: "Live until you are old, learn when you are old." As you move forward and learn along the way, when your knowledge density is higher and your knowledge is wider, your cognitive thinking ability will also be higher. When you look at things, you will not stay in your own cognitive biases, you will not be easily confused by appearances, and you can see the essence behind various appearances.

3. Upgrade the circle

In the circle of ordinary people, they talk about gossip and gossip, and they think about survival; in the circle of businessmen, they talk about profit management and seek wealth; in the circle of wise people, they talk about the growth of the pattern and pursue the truth. This tells us that different circles have different thinking and cognition. Therefore, walk with excellent people, open up your vision and pattern, and your life level will continue to improve.
