Maybe you're frustrated. You were holding on to your sanity before the pandemic and now the added uncertainty of life has you holding on to that last thread of hope as you dangle even lower.
STOP!
Take 5 and just breathe.
Why does life get so crazy?
That's not one of the good questions, I know. Life is crazy at times. But that's not all there is to life. Life can be so hard at times. But that's not all we ever experience in life. Life can bring tears, pain, heartache, distress, dissatisfaction, uneasiness, and fear. But...
What about the good?
Life offers a lot of good.
Don't have a one-sided relationship with life.
It's easy to be distracted by every negative thing we see, hear and experience. These distractions pull us away from the good that life has to offer. By taking 5 minutes to let everything go...
All the bad, the ugly, the messiness and everything in-between, we can bring our focus to what distractions often blind us to.
When was the last time you smiled?
We smile at babies or old people holding on to their love through their body language. But what about our lives have we smiled about lately?
Gratitude journaling is serious stuff. It is life transforming. To make a conscious decision and on purpose look for things that are going right creates the shift in our mind, body and day that we need in order to notice that there is more to life than pain. And although there is pain, it is not our downfall. We will not be defeated because with life comes some heartache. Because with life, we also have love, friendship, hope, joy, days when everything goes right from morning to night. With life, we have grand memories that send us into the most annoying belly aching laugh that we can't help but share with those around us. Those people that we call family or friends or both. Those people that life brought to us and us to them.
Life is beautiful. Do you see it?
Give it 5 minutes.
Journaling is easy. But perhaps it's not your thing. That's cool. Do your thing. Just make sure you do it for 5 minutes each day.
Is it yoga? Is it meditation? Is it nature walking? Is it sitting in your favorite chair sipping on coffee while you look out the window? Is it dancing to your favorite song? Whatever you do to unwind and reflect on life, do it with a mind of gratitude and a heart of joy.
You are at the controls. Life will be what it will be and you get to choose what you take from it. Will you take from it defeat or opportunity?
Life has a lot of good to offer. Get what you need from it.
