Tales from the Dyslexic Side: Part 4
People who love books and read them quickly are said to devour them; this bestows books the quality of food, as though they are sustenance keeping the avid reader alive. For some of us, that’s just what they are. Books are more than just bound paper and printed lines, they are doorways to other worlds and experiences to live. I developed a passion for books which was never matched by my ability to consume them. I could taste the stories they held and I wanted to munch my way through them, but I couldn’t say I devoured them, that would give the idea of reading quickly. It was more like I nibbled my way through them, and if we’re holding to the analogy, probably dropped a fair few crumbs on the carpet while doing so.

Life's Way Of Telling Us
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you have reached breaking point, as a result of circumstances just continuing to get worse and worse? Perhaps the relationship with your partner has become unhealthy and unhappy, void of love, trust, support, and intimacy? Maybe your job continues to become more and more stressful, demanding, and unsatisfying, to the point you have begun to feel overwhelmed, and even depressed? Maybe there is a certain individual in your life who is constantly harassing you, criticizing you, belittling you, bullying you, and dragging you down, which is taking its toll on you mentally and emotionally? Perhaps you are constantly struggling financially, to the point where you have become extremely anxious about being able to make your bill and mortgage/rent payments on time? Maybe you have even reached the point where you are so sick and tired of looking in the mirror, gazing upon yourself in shame at the excess weight you carry, courtesy of a poor routine you have developed in overindulging in junk food, combined with a continual failure to exercise? These examples, and many other circumstances, we commonly find ourselves in, and we identify pretty early on in the picture, that things are simply not right, and definitely not how we desire. Sadly, what is also common, is that we fail to take action in fixing them when we do identify them. Instead, we just let them slide, hoping that these circumstances will eventually just sort themselves out. Not surprisingly, they don't, not until action of sorts is taken anyway. By the time we reach breaking point, we are so distressed, so unhappy, so mentally exhausted, and even so depressed, that we have taken our life into a deep, dark trough!

My creative mind saved my life
The one thing in my life I am most passionate about is jewellery design, more specifically charm jewellery design. I have loved expressing myself through art and other creative outlets all my life, it has brought me endless joy and even escapism when necessary.

SEVEN STEPS TO LEARN AND MASTER ANYTHING AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE
SEVEN STEPS TO LEARN AND MASTER ANYTHING AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE I hate learning. I wanted to learn how to trade stocks and I ended up losing my home. I wanted to learn how to play chess better and in one of my first tournaments, I threw all the pieces on the floor and cried.

The Gift of Using Your Voice
My Days I spend most of my days with little to no downtime, but I enjoy every single second of it. I am a mother to an amazing five-year-old. I am married and we also have two cats. I'm currently studying cybersecurity full time and just made the Dean's List. Professionally, I create and present trainings to new Medicaid employees, and it's the most rewarding job I've ever had. Some of my trainees have gone on to work in very high positions and I am incredibly proud of them! One thing that really helps me with my presentation is my voice. I've heard so many times that it's soft and soothing, yet I am not afraid to speak my mind. This may have inflated my ego just slightly, but it was needed. This time last year I suffered with severe depression, anxiety, and was having a hard time in life. I've done all of the following using my voice in some way within the last year:

Suffering artist
Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil. Bollocks! I have talent as you can see from my renditioning of the 'Three Wise Monkeys' visual parable, and I am often told, "Wow, that's great - but I couldn't live with it". I try to inform them not to compare my drawings/paintings to chocolate box covers, or relate them to commercial crap. I tell folks to open their eyes to the possibility of having one as a talking point, or as a one-off art investment, especially as I am fast approaching the age of mortality. Listen to this artist. Everyone knows that once one has shuffled off his mortal coils, one's artwork increases in value. Just ask Van Gogh.
