Growing Up and Moving On Born Malcolm Michaels Jr. on August 24th 1945 to an African American family in New Jersey, Johnson had six siblings growing up and attended an African Methodist Episcopal Church during their childhood. Given their upbringing, Johnson always struggled with their identity as for most of their life they felt they couldn’t be themselves. More often than not, I encounter clients who are fiercely focused on the problems that they find within their Company with very little to no sight beyond that point of view. The perspective is narrowly focused on everything that is going wrong. The emanating message of how they feel is loud and clear and although not always represented with words, everyone hears it. Although there is benefit to seeing things clearly, there is a big difference between identifying an issue and finding that the glass is always half empty despite how hard the employees are working. A successful leader is a solution-based thinker. They can see the issue and the challenges without losing sight of the big picture. Companies need strong leadership.
