The Weapons Were Formed…But Didn’t Prosper
Prologue I’ve read hundreds of books during my 33 years on this earth, so you would think writing my own would be a breeze. I used to write when I was a teenager, see, I had this obsession with soap operas and anytime there was a storyline that I didn’t like, I would rewrite the story with my own twist. I only allowed a select few to read them, and since then I’ve been told that if I didn’t write my story it would be a waste of my God given potential. I’ve sat down time after time to think about how I should even start, I mean, how do you really start writing a story about your life without sounding like a cliché? “Once Upon a Time” is too cartoon and fairy tales, so I guess the best way to start is to introduce myself.

Purpose is important for your success
In the dictionary, purpose is described as "the reason for which something is done, produced, or for which something exists." This is what we all aim for in our lives: to have a sense of purpose and accomplishment.

Learning to Appreciate
I’m pretty sure most of you have been asked if you are more pessimistic or more optimistic? Are you a glass-half-full kind of person or a glass-half-empty? Most of us like to believe that we are optimistic, making the most out of bad situations and predicaments that life throws our way. I know I try my best to. But life, well life can be a b*tch sometimes, can’t it? At least that’s the pessimistic way of looking at it, in my opinion. As each day passes by, and I learn more and more, I try to take on a new perspective to literally everything, even the lows that life brings. Life is nothing more than an educator, constantly teaching us through every single experience we have; the good, the bad, and the very, very ugly. Most of us, myself included love to celebrate, appreciate, and be full of joy when life is up but when life is down, we complain, look for excuses, become bitter and difficult to be around, and depending on how bad the situation, may even lose or question our faith. Any of this sound familiar? Maybe this has been you or someone you know. No worries, it happens to all of us. We just have to keep in mind that nothing lasts forever and that this too, shall pass.

50 Things I do to Maintain a Happy Life
I'm quite a happy person, and often get questioned by others on how I do it. Being happy isn't as easy as deciding to be, and I don't think fake positivity and pretending everything's perfect help anyone in the long run. I've found that being consistent and intentional with everything I do and keeping my focus on big and small things makes it a lot easier to stay happy. Here are 50 of the things I try to stick to.

Everything
Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period. (Wayne Dyer)

It Feels Like I've Come Home
I’ve always loved writing and have been doing it since I was a child. The first story I can remember writing, I must have been 5 or 6 and I put together an illustrated book (made of construction paper), about a knight called Michael (funny story, my husband’s name is Michael). I wrote fantasy stories throughout my teens, even giving a fairly dark and twisted one to my Dad for Father’s Day one year (he was probably like: uhhhh, thanks?). I ventured into fanfic in my teens writing some stories about Star Trek (TNG). For a short period I even ended up writing articles on Vampires (on the history and myth of them, which you can find on my website, (or here on Vocal starting with this one) after writing a paper for a Sociology class in University (that was a strange rabbit hole to go down!).
