A Professorial Aspie
A Professorial Aspie - in the beginning My name is Jacky and the journey isn’t mine but I consider myself fortunate to be a part of it - Simon’s amazing journey from boy to manhood. Simon is my youngest of four boys and this child, from the outset was both wonderful and wanted. His life was not the life we had hoped for but he has, and continues to, surpassed our expectations. Being a ‘Professorial Aspie’ (my words) doesn’t detract from a life of stark contrasts which include amazement and laughter too.

New Year, New Me?
First of all, I am disgusted by myself for that. I hate hearing the "new year, new me" phrase, but I think (like every year) that this could be my year. I started this blog as a stay-at-home mom wanting to build a small extra income and socialize with other mommies out there; then it became too much. In the past year and a half, I had two falling outs with my family, separated from my husband, moved four times, celebrated Parker's birthday twice, joined a sorority, joined the honors society, started three jobs and still managed to maintain straight A's. Life is hard, what can I say? You hit a few roadblocks, and you keep on truckin'. Have I wanted to drop out of school? Yes! Have I considered getting a low wage job and living off the government for the rest of my life? Absolutely! But I want SO MUCH MORE out of my life.

New Year, New Beginnings.... Top Story - January 2018.
Every year I will set myself a New Year's resolution because I felt that It would be nice to a set a new goal to achieve. However, learning over time, I realized that New Year's resolutions are never going to be measurable or attainable unless you have the motivation to achieve your goals.

January: The Month of Me
The holidays have come and gone in the blink of an eye. I spent Christmas with my family in Illinois and New Years with close friends in Pennsylvania. Each day I spent with those dear to me was a day spent in pure bliss. As my boyfriend and I cleaned and locked up the vacation house in Pennsylvania, we were both struck by sheer melancholy, and I have not been able to shake it since.

You’re Too Smart to Go Down Stupid
DIY. If you find that you can’t work within the machine, do it yourself. Gareth Edwards, director of the most recent Godzilla reboot, had one homemade feature to his credit prior to directing the $200 million return of the giant lizard. The film was an indie titled Monsters, and it was shot for less than $500,000. Monsters was no big commercial hit, as it grossed $4.2 million globally. The reviews, however, were sensational.

Opening My Eyes
I feel like after seeing what has been happening all around me, I grew up a little. From being a little girl taking care of my younger brothers and not discovering who really am, to making it to this year of 2018. I can understand why I am here and experiencing all these events. I used to think to myself all the time since I gave birth to my little girl, how am I, as an 18-year-old mother going to get through the struggles? I faced a lot of disappointments and resentment, but grew out of the negativity and saw there is a way to get what I want for my future and my daughter's. I couldn't face why the father of my child could not grow up and just be an adult until I faced the fact I can have fun in life without being judgmental and harsh of the choices he makes. As teachers and friends always told me: we are only humans; we all make mistakes.

New Year, New You
Everyone is currently engulfed in the warm glow of hope brought about by their New Year's resolutions, the dreams everyone has for the success and achievements 2018 will bring, the better, more accomplished, happier you that will inevitably emerge. I am thoroughly in support of setting goals and establishing a path to reach them, but not of these fleeting resolutions.

Of Joys, and Pains, and Blessings
I don't even know where to start counting my blessings for 2017. Although I haven't had much of material things to boast, graces and blessings abound in terms of family, love, friends, and personal and emotional growth. This year gave me a number of reasons to say that life is indeed beautiful despite all its imperfections.

Learning Who I Am
I've been looking back at 2017 as it ends, and I can see how big the year was. I started the year out on vacation with my husband in Colorado Springs. We went to the top of Pikes Peak for New Years Day. I couldn't have known just how symbolic that was going to be.
