To Tell A Tale
My earliest memory is of lying in my crib looking up at the butterfly-mobile that my parents had put up. To this day, I can still remember the wondrous, magical feeling I had as I looked at the colors. I had no words, as of yet, but I remember feeling that I just might burst with joy.

When you want something...
17 years old, Rome, Italy – The summer after I graduated high school, I took a 2.5-week tour of Europe. While the other girls my age were interested in talking about boys, the discos, and lower drinking age I was drooling over the freedom. I was literally halfway across the world, seeing things I never thought I’d see with people I didn’t know. I could feel the energy of each city and ancient site. I filled a travel journal recounting all the historic buildings. I wrote about the catacombs and the martyrs, of eating pizza on the street. I danced in the alley and ate gelato on the Spanish Steps. I took photos at the Trevi Fountain and threw a coin over my shoulder into the water, so I know I’ll return someday.

How To Design A Happier, More Fulfilling Life
A few weeks ago I had a bad day. The thing that bothered me was that outside everything was fine, nothing was obviously wrong, but inside everything was chaotic. It was one of those days when you were in constant conflict with you.

How to Avoid Graduating High School Without Knowing What you Want to do
Start Exploring as Early as Possible Don’t wait until grade 12 to finally start thinking about what college to go to, and what job you want after. Throughout your time in secondary, or even elementary school, try new things. Explore the arts, sciences, cooking, sewing, interior design, construction, dancing, music, or anything else you can get your hands on. Once you reach an appropriate age, start volunteering with various organizations that interest you. It’s also a great idea to find a part-time job and get experience. Furthermore, when you are young, it’s the best time to find a mentor and shadow the adults in your life. This will give you a real glimpse into what it's actually like to work in certain industries. Shadow your parents, a family friend, an older cousin, aunt, or uncle if possible. These are some great ways to explore your options and gain valuable experience to add to your resume. Be willing to work for free to get a feel for an industry you’re interested in. You will not only gain valuable experience, but you will learn a ton. You will have a better idea of what you want to pursue as a career, and you will become a well-rounded person who’s valuable to employers.

This Is What I Accomplished After Six Days Of Time Blocking
To-do lists can get muddled by meetings, emails, phone calls, and social media. Does this sound familiar? Planning my 15-hour day for six days, I blocked my calendar so that I have enough time to do everything I need to do.

To Teach The Children Who Do Not Know Love, How To Love Themselves.
I live in an extremely rough neighborhood where the sound of gunshots has become a normal part of our every day lives. In my apartment complex it is not uncommon to see yellow police crime tape blocking off an area while the police investigate yet another homicide. Drug dealers and drug addicts, gang bangers and ex-cons make up the majority of the people who live here. It is not safe for anyone no matter day or night to be outside. Caught up in the middle of this mess are the children who roam around freely with no parental supervision what so ever. No one cares enough to protect these poor little kids from any of the dangers that we all face. They all clearly exhibit signs of neglect and some even abuse. They run around and have complete disrespect for everyone including their own family and friends. Most of them use the most offensive language and they do not care who is around to hear them. They throw trash all over the place and destroy everything they can get their hands on including the playground the complex built for them. I have seen 3 year olds outside alone walking around aimlessly with no one following them. Sometimes the older kids will be outside screaming and beating on each other until 3 or 4am. They are becoming products of this environment and not a soul loves or cares about them enough to teach them that this is not the way to live. No one tells them that guns and violence are not "cool". They need to be taught that they can rise above this craziness and they can become what ever they want to be. At least more than what they are being raised around, after all they are the future of this country. If no one shows them positivity then I fear for what the future will be like for everyone.

Giving back to Our Communities
Altruism is a principle or a virtue that highlights selflessness, emphasizing the act of helping others without reference to a personal reward. The concept of altruism encourages devoting time to aiding others. Altruism may motivate individuals to get involved in society and actively promote the welfare of others. These actions in return set off a chain reaction of goodness. Being a part of something greater than myself, something that has the potential to inspire goodness or positivity in others is intensely motivational for me. I enjoy coming up with ways to stimulate altruistic behaviors, focusing on shifting my perspective as well as investing time and funds to acknowledge and advocate for those individuals that are in need of any sort of assistance. As a psychology major and biology minor with a pre-medicinal concentration, I love to explore the mind and the neurobiological mechanisms of behavior and illnesses. Having a positive mindset and giving back while relying on strengths and passions have been consistently linked to growth and maturity in societies. Habitual behaviors based on positive goals have the possibility of positively impacting many lives. Education has the power to strengthen our foundations and behaviors, through observations, application, and reinforcement. Altruism may be fostered through education to propel productivity and cultivate empathy. Service projects encompass a multitude of events and activities and are a direct application of altruism.

How to Find Joy in Every Day
“Happiness doesn't mean everything is perfect. It means you have decided to look beyond the mistakes. ”~ Unknown The question we all try to answer is: What is happiness and how do we get it? We fill our lives with the preoccupation of happiness in many things, but it is possible that that desire will take us away from purpose.
