Participation Trophies: My Unpopular Opinion
We have all heard the good and bad of participation trophies. Some are in favor and some aren’t. Let’s be clear, I am in the school of thought that is NOT a fan of participation trophies, but I have not heard my exact reasons in any argument to date. My friends have encouraged me to share this opinion, whether or not it is for their entertainment value has yet to be determined. To understand how devastating a blow we are dealing with bestowing these awards to impressionable youth, we must first understand where they came from. It was not the Boomers.

The Love & Light Movement is BS
Eat, Pray, & Love was so well received by the sort of girls that worship the goddess of Pumpkin Spice, and are notorious for wearing Lululemons. For others, this was another contribution to the whitewashing of Spirituality. Honestly, the whole notion of Westernizing Eastern philosophies has been a grand debate for decades (maybe even centuries). My complaints towards it could be a drop in an ocean of irritation, and those same people I am referring to would merely lecture me about what demons possess me.

A retreat to rebalance.
A secret sanctum of solitude. Your childhood fear of the pitch black has not fully disintegrated: the cold chill still lightly bites you from your lower back to your neck. Breathe out. Nothing or no one mean you any torment. The lack of light only means to cause you curiosity and wonder. Go forth, and see what new patterns you will learn: The nights don't feel dark for long, for slowly the eyes adjust, the lights shed their tears on the path ahead, and your feet already know the way. All is well. You are loved, you are safe.

Rewriting your story
If you could author any story, what would you write about? Would you write of wonderful wilderness adventures like The Hobbit? Would you transcribe titillating tales of unsolved mysteries like Sherlock Holmes? Would you pen down fantasies of far-off worlds and infinite galaxies like Star Wars? Would you scribble about lessons learned from a character’s chaotic life such as Jo in Little Women? WHAT IF, you simply became the author of your own story - the great adventure of YOU and all the characters that come and go throughout the plot twists and turns in your life.

When You Suddenly Realize You’re Having One Of Those Kinds Of Days
Today is turning out to be one of those days, and It all started with breakfast and our bathroom shower. There’s a place where my wife and I love to have breakfast. It’s about fifteen minutes from our house, the food is excellent and the prices better. All of the staff know us by first name (yeah, we go that much), and we always clean our plates.
