Why I, A Broke College Kid, am Attempting Blogging in 2020. And Why You Should too.
Dear My Nonexistant, Unamused Audience, *Insert Lord Farquaad voice here* Hello, Millenials, Boomers, and fellow Gen-Zers. It 'tis I, another cynical 19-something who, in a phrase, is just "trying her best".

Fortune favors the bold.
I guess it's true what they say- find your passion and you'll find yourself. Some people are lucky, they are able to find their passion and strengths at a young age, whilst others may spend their entire lives searching. However, to me, I think the scariest bit of it all, is not knowing what you're looking for at all.

Temptation Can Be So Bad At Times....Yet It Feels Soooooooo Good
Human nature is kind of funny. We think we’re strong enough to handle anything and everything....until temptation comes around. I mean, think about. We put ourselves on a strict diet,we go to the gym we lose the weight we want to,we grow out of bad eating habits, we get rid of our own toxic habits and get rid of toxic people in our lives. And then we turn back to them by giving in. All the hard work and you’re back to square 1 thanks to the power of temptation. Boy, is it powerful. Leads us into trouble by trapping us in its web by using its basket of goods. Ask Little Red Riding Hood,Hansel and Gretel and the Gingerbread Man. Some of us can relate. I know I can. I’ve been up and down that road too. Feeling like Superman with Kryptonite. Or Batman when he’s seduced by Catwoman. Or flies when they see lights. We all have had our moments with temptation. Some of us still have trouble fighting it. I know I still do. Let’s be real,it kicks our butts almost everytime. Some things were just so used to eating or doing, that it’s become an addiction overtime. Like eating Little Debbies and hot chips and Funyuns and chicken and other fatty unhealthy stuff knowing you’re suppose to be eating healthier. Or letting someone talk you into trying out a new drug or something else you is weird or bizarre or can hurt/kill you. Or bringing home your ex everyday for sex. some It’s like something pulls us towards whatever we can have or shouldn’t want or need. And the world doesn’t make it any better because TEMPTATION IS EVERYWHERE!! It’s promoted on tv, on the radio,in stores and restaurants. We can even try to outrun it,but it’ll still catch up and overpower us. No matter how fast you are,it’s gonna come and trip you over when your inches away from the finish line. Guess after all that we might as well call temptation our BFF. Our shoulder to cry on. Our safety for the evening. A friend in need. Our rock to stand on. I bet right now there’s a special place for Temptation in the hall of fame for all its “greatness and accomplishments”. And I thought life throwing lemons was bad enough already. If it ain’t one thing it’s another. And another. And another. However, I think I may have a solution to resisting temptaion as much as you can. By training your mind and brain to believe and think you can conquer and overcome it. Increase your hope to be able to walk past something you see that looks “delicious” or “interesting”. Make your mind believe you need someone or something you don’t need to satisfy you night and day, especially if you’re just using them for your benefit. That people that “love you” and all the cakes, cookies and chips are not gonna help you in any way. They are just gonna suck you dry and ruin your chances and goals of losing weight. Everything that glitters ain’t always gold. Another thing you should train your brain to think about. The things we have to deal with in this world, I tell you. It’s never ending. Would y’all agree? Penny for your thoughts? Let’s just think about it for a second. It’s like we’re bees when we smell or see honey. That’s how temptation works. It lures us in with its sweet smell and taste that we don’t know what’s coming on the other side. It blinds us from seeing what’s really in store for us. Because we allow it to sink us in using its charms and assets,we get into trouble sometimes. Before you answer, just take some time and think about these questions I’m going to ask you. How many times have we dodged temptation and succeeded? How many times have we been tempted by something or someone we shouldn’t want or need? No shame or guilt. Everybody isn’t perfect, you know. We all have our downfalls. We’ve all been there. We all got dirt. We’re humans. We make mistakes and more mistakes and we learn more and more from them everytime. And the best way to lure yourself away from temptation is to teach yourself to walk away. To say to yourself “Nope, not today.”. And to feel good about it. It’ll be hard, but you can do it. Temptation is nothing but an undercover sexy temptress just trying to make it hard for you to accomplish anything and have your own say. Demolishing everything in its way to do it too. But,it cannot demolish your piece of mind and confidence unless you let it.

Be Like the Bat
Have you ever considered what it would feel like to be a superhero? Have you ever thought about the amount of power one can control? Well, We might not believe ourselves to be a hero with superpowers, however, you do have a hidden power. This power is the power of the mind. To obtain it, you must discipline yourself. Consider this; Batman is on the Justice League and his capabilities rival that of Superman. Why is that? Well because he uses his mind before his physical abilities. Here is a quick read on how to discipline that mindset to be like Batman.

Being Slow, Steady, Calm and Consistent
Being Slow, Steady, Calm and Consistent Have you ever felt that you need to go faster? Do societal pressure push on you to make you achieve your goals faster than you would personally like? If so, I want to share the idea of staying calm and relaxed whenever we are doing something. We need to do everything slowly and steadily. What I mean is that there is no need to rush things and a need to do everything quickly. This means that we should calmly do our day-to-day tasks and not be rushed by time. Here are the advantages:

Message in the Grass
Life gets messy. It hurts sometimes. Sometimes it’s the level of hurt you’ve only heard about, when your life seems untouchable by such horror. Suddenly, there you are. Hot tears, gasping for breath that won’t come, and a deep ache that permeates muscle and bone. Your “sink or swim” moment. One of many. Most days, you can find a ray of hope to cling to while you pull yourself from the deep, complicated, Indiana Jones-style jungle pit. But some days, the most brutal days, outside assistance is required. Sometimes, the Universe knows you need a lifeline. A message so clear, so obviously meant for you in that precise moment, that it stops you in your tracks in disbelief.

Are You Trying Too Hard To Fail?
Imagine taking your canoe down to the river’s edge and putting it into the water… And as you get into the canoe, you deliberately point it upstream and begin working very hard at trying to make movement upstream. And we say, ‘Why not let go of those oars and let your boat turn and go with the flow?’ And our human friends say, ‘Oh Abraham. That just seems lazy.’ And we say, ‘But how long can you keep this up?’ And you say, ‘Until the day I die. Which hopefully will be sooner than later because this is a really hard and miserable life. ‘And anyway,’ you say, ‘Everyone that is worth anything is paddling upstream too. All the monuments are about them. All the statues are about them. Every book that is written is about them. ‘And I’ve heard there are even more rewards after death. So, I think I will continue to just paddle upstream and try to eke out whatever reward I can find from this hard work and struggle. It’s virtuous, you know.’ And we say, ‘But how long can you keep this up?’ Because from our broader view, we understand so well the stream. And this is the most important part of all about the stream scenario. You ready? Everything you want is downstream.

24 Thoughts at 24
What an age, 24 years old… You realise in 6 years time your 30 and then your half way to 60, you realise you probably should contribute to your pension scheme at some point but contemplate buying alcohol and paying for tinder instead. You realise your feeling old because your not ‘with it’ with the latest banter and fashion styles but you wear what you find is comfortable and you find your self in that sense. You realise your 24, when you find your first grey hair and you see your first wrinkle, or laughter lines as most of my friends say to me (to make me feel better, obviously). You're constantly wanting to better yourself every day but your scrolling down on Facebook for your next luck and you repeatedly worry over insignificant things.

Rest
I am writing this blog post as I lay in bed with an empty house. Today, everyone is doing their own thing, including myself. The crazy thing, is that I have been being prompted to rest for about a week now. I usually start off really well. I’ll light a candle, take a nice hot shower, eat a healthy but satisfying meal, maybe meditate a little bit, read a book, all that good stuff. All of these things sound peaceful, until I add that as I was lighting the candle, I was also thinking about the 5 errands that I have to run. As I took a shower, I was interrupted three times by my daughter asking me for juice. As I ate my healthy meal, I was scrolling through social media and creating posts to promote my services. As I meditated... well, I was actually pretty relaxed then, but as I read my friends new book, I noticed myself writing notes and making edits with my favorite blue pen. Outside of my 20 minute meditation, I did a whole lot of “resting” that was really just working in disguise. Some of those things, like the shower interruptions, I can’t control, but for the most part, I have got to make adjustments.
