Why write at all?
Vocal keeps popping up on my Instagram account like a beacon beckoning me to publish something, anything even remotely creative. Why would I join when I don't have much to say? I'm naturally introverted and observant, not one for social media posts. I've posted about 10 photos in 5 years. I'm an overthinker, worrier and physically unaware; I bump into door frames more than once a day. On the other hand, I have somehow accumulated a lifetime's worth of experiences before the age of 30.

5 Ways You Can Build Thick Skin
In the last blog I discussed the 3 reasons why some people do not possess thick skin and lack emotional strength. I mentioned how some people were born with a silver spoon in their mouth, can't handle constructive criticism well and only are content with a 7th place trophy.

Multi-tasking vs. Focusing
I’m just 1 person. So how do I get as much done as 3 people? The simple answer I usually give is that I multi-task, but that isn’t exactly true. Sometimes I multi-task and sometimes I focus, depending on my state of mind, the sort of task at hand, and the importance of the task.

Easy as 1,2,3 (4,5)
Easy as 1,2,3 (4,5!) Although designed as a day to celebrate relationships for those lucky enough to struck by Cupid’s arrow, the international day of love can just as easily make you feel ashamed or embarrassed to be alone. Overtime we’ve bought into the idea that Valentine's Day is a day about love for others and others love for us, rather than an overall celebration of just love.

Nebuchadnezzar Guidelines
8FEB2021; 2245, MON I'm just jamming out to J. Cole's new(?) playlist on Tidal, and I randomly realized that it's been a New York minute since I've posted an actually original list; and after a three-peat in The Swamp "community", I figure why not a change of pace? So, "let's kick the ballistics"!

Reading is Like Eating: There's No Such Thing as "Good" or "Bad" Writing
You're hungry. What do you feel like eating: good food or bad food? I'm guessing good. But what does that mean? A greasy breakfast? Tacos? Ice cream? Beef Bourguignon? "Good" with food means exactly nothing because it has too many conditions, the most important of which are the preferences of the person eating.

Purposeful Speech
There is a saying that goes, “What you say can be forgiven, but it can never be forgotten.” There is much truth to this, and it is evident in our relationships with others that communication is never quite the same after we have, for lack of a better phrase, stuck our foot in our mouth. So, what can one do to ensure that our communication with others continues productively? We need purposeful speech. We have always been told to think about what we say before we say it, and that can’t be more accurate. While about 80% of our communication with others in non-verbal, what we say to others has a massive impact on how they perceive us and how they react to us.

My Ugly Garden
I’d rather have an ugly garden than a barren one. To be fair, it’s much easier to have a barren garden. It’s easier to just uproot the weeds than to till the soil, plant the seeds, water every day, and wait for results. There are too many small decisions to make when the garden is barren that it is easier left alone. You can’t make an ugly garden if it’s still bare.
