For your current self and your future self.

Not too long ago I was ready to settle. I was ready to settle in my relationships, in my job, in my finances, in everything. I finally woke up one day and realized that this is not the life I want to live. I realized that nobody is going to do anything for you.

I was just sitting around waiting for the magic thing that would make me like my body better. I was waiting for all of the money in the world to come flowing in. I was waiting for Prince Charming to come walking through the door. I wasn’t willing to put in the effort to make any of that happen. I was waiting on all of this to just happen to me, and that’s not how life works. You don’t just get handed everything you want without putting in any work.

I used to know someone who spent a lot of their free time looking for “Work from home” gigs that require little effort to make them a lot of money. They were constantly angry and frustrated with the fact that they couldn’t find anything. The reason for that being, anything that claims it can get you money with no effort is probably not real.

Everything in life takes effort. Everything. You need effort to get out of bed, to get dressed, to shower, to drive. Why wouldn’t you need to put effort in to make money? To change as a person for the better? To improve your relationship? You have to show up for yourself every single day. Nobody else is going to do it for you.

Nobody is going to make you go to the gym.

Nobody is going to make you save your money.

Nobody is going to make you try to improve yourself.

It is all up to you. Once you realize that you are the one getting in the way, you can change that. You can keep an eye out for those self sabotaging tendencies and change them. You have the ability and the resources to take your life into your own hands and fix it. If you don’t feel appreciated in your relationship, find someone who will. If you’re not making money, start valuing yourself so that others will also value you.

If you want to make changes in your life, then get up and make the changes. Figure out what needs to happen, make a plan and just do it. As cheesy as it sounds, all you have to do is start. If you’re waiting for motivation, you’re not going to stumble across it one day. You have to work for it.

I’m working on being more financially stable, getting out of debt, and being the healthiest and happiest version of myself possible. For a long time I just accepted the fact that I was going to hate my body, be in debt, and never make the amount of money I wanted to. Then, weirdly enough, I started reading self help books and investing time into myself. This was something I had never done before. I started making a plan to save money every month while still paying my credit card down (more than the minimum payment). I started working out 5-6 times a week and eating better. I started actually putting in the effort to change my life.

Am I where I want to be yet? No, but I will be. I know deep down that I am on the right path and I am putting in the work. I am doing what I need to do to become the healthiest, happiest, debt free version of myself I have always wanted. I will keep putting the work in until I get to where I want to be and then I will put in more work.

Show up. Every. Damn. Day.

Show up for your current self, show up for your future self.

Just show up.
