Sharing is Caring ...

Just a thought

If we, as creators, work together, we are more likely to reach our goals. Through a solid foundation of determination, encouragement and learning, we can build; we each become better, more confident writers. What can we do besides reading, commenting, subscribing or even tipping? (I realize that regular tipping is not an option financially for many of us, although they are pretty thrilling to receive.)

There is another way! How do you feel about sharing another author’s articles, or about having your work shared?

Through sharing, you reciprocate camaraderie. The author of the piece shared receives acknowledgement, the sharer receives gratitude. Both can gain financial reward. The benefits of camaraderie are numerous! But that’s for another article.

Sharing other’s stories on your Social Media platforms is easy and cost-free. Even if it only results in one or two reads or recognition, that is a helpful boost to the author. As an author, it’s quite fulfilling to be recognized, despite any financial return. It’s simple! Just click on the Facebook or Twitter Icons at the top or bottom of the story, type a short intro, tag the author and hit post. If you want to share the story elsewhere, just copy and paste the link and drop it where you want.. Easy-peasy! Takes nothing more than a few moments of your time.

If you share someone else’s story, you get mindful credit for being altruistic, which leads to the possibility of reaching more readers to your own, work and the possibility of obtaining more followers and/or susbcribers.

If your story is shared, you get more potential eyes on your story, which can turn into greater financial reward, and validation that your story appeals to a wider audience.

At least twice per week, if not more often, I will choose a written piece or two, either a short story, poem, or prose piece, from a writer who publishes on Vocal (sorry Medium fans and users - my access, and that of many others, is limited), to share to my Facebook Page. They will be chosen at random, as pieces that speak to me personally in some way. I am no critic, I just know what I like. There is so much talent here not getting nearly enough attention. This is my small way to help.

I encourage you all to share works, too, by your creative peers. Choose pieces that appeal to you and give them greater potential to reach a wider audience. Of course, you should write just a little to introduce the piece, as well as tagging the author. That way, they know and can respond.

I will keep this up through November and possibly December, then see if it’s going anywhere. We also know how the Facebook interactions tale a downturn during the Holidays, so with that in mind, we’ll just have to see how things go.

Also, I can’t pull this off entirely by myself. If you like the idea, you have to support it with your participation!

I am not a great influencer in the Social Media world. I don’t have thousands of followers right now, but you can follow me yourself to gain access to greater opportunity to help yourself and fellow creators. I hope to help my fellow creators, in some small way, to feel seen.

We writers are a specific segment of the community with a number of shared goals and understanding. We need to be supportive of each other in order to thrive. As an author myself, along with all the hopes and dreams that entails, I want to see you thrive!

Thank you for reading! Help me make this work!

A great idea and one that you're right costs nothing to share :)

I love this! I always love to forward Vocal articles to my friends and family, too. There are so many wonderful communities and writers on Vocal to share from, it's awesome to see so many people support each other. 💗

I love this idea! I’m glad you gave the instructions for posting to social media, because I’ve always overlooked those icons and never realized what they were for.

Splendid supportive sharing stories so special💖💖💖💕

  • Totally agree with you, though it is finding the right place to share others work, but I do try and advise others when and where to post. We should be more supportive of each other. Big hugs
