Self-improvement – A key skill for success

Keep improving yourself!

By The Breatharian BloggerPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

Self-improvement isn't all that it's made up to be, despite popular belief. There is a sense of empowerment in continually striving to be better and more prosperous, but there is a negative side effect of constantly striving to be better and more successful.

You can do everything you put your mind to, and this is the message that self-development sends out loud and clear. It's effective up to a point because "visualization" can only go so far in terms of effectiveness.

For starters, it distinguishes between the objective and the actions necessary to achieve it. Second, it allows you to enjoy the sensation of being successful without really having accomplished anything. As a result, the objective loses its significance, and you may become complacent, hesitant to put up the effort, or take risks necessary to get what you already have in your daydreams.

You, too, must put in significant effort to improve yourself. It's a long and arduous procedure. You must push yourself intellectually, emotionally, and physically to achieve your goals. You don't merely "picture" yourself living the life of your dreams. You are the one who brings it to fruition.

When you think about "self-improvement," you begin to feel that you aren't enough. This is an attitude that I have fallen prey to. I had the impression that I needed to do more. I was obsessed with earning more money, putting in more hours, and accumulating more possessions to the point that I had lost sight of what I already had. My triumphs were never a source of pleasure for me. I was preoccupied with finding the next "better" thing to do.

If the goal of self-improvement is to acquire a sense of success, isn't that the point? It is the fact at which everything becomes self-defeating. By putting so much effort into improving ourselves, we end up liking ourselves less.

Instead of asking yourself, "How can I be more? " ask yourself, "How can I be the greatest version of myself?" Permit yourself to let go of the idea that there is anything wrong with you that you need to "fix." You don't have anything fundamentally wrong with you.

It is important to maintain a sense of balance in all aspects of our life. This is particularly true when it comes to individual growth. It is necessary to strike a balance between striving to be a better form of yourself and embracing yourself as you are right now.

We're continuously changing and developing. We make errors, but we also learn from them. We grow. It's a cycle we need to accept. We don't need to attempt to attain a condition of perfection. We simply need to attempt to be greater than we were before and embrace who we are now.

Moreover, things change. You change. What could be a necessity to you right now does not seem all that significant tomorrow? The only way for self-development to work for you is if you continually reevaluate your priorities.

Revisit oneself from time and again and weigh in what counts. This way, you won't become trapped striving to reach one objective, wind up accomplishing it, and feel laughably empty afterward. Think of this procedure as a simple "rebalancing," a means for you to guarantee your vision is connected to your real self.

Self-growth is unattainable without self-awareness. Self-awareness is to be truthful with yourself. It's having a profound awareness of who you are, what you want, and where you need to go.

Truly being self-aware helps us to have more command over our judgment and, eventually, our emotional reaction to life. It's the only way we can "strengthen" ourselves while without destroying ourselves in the meantime.
