For most people worldwide, when the going gets tough, they get going. Sadly, I'm not talking in the sense they get going in a progressive way though, as they instead get going to the nearest exit. That's right, unfortunately most people take the option to quit, and they take the easy way out. When it comes to striving for goals, or some form of personal accomplishment, or a change in habit, whatever it may be that is of great benefit to our life, most people do not have the perseverance and patience to just keep going on that journey to achieve it. I think we all have the expectation that the journey is going to be tough, and we know that it will require a lot of hard work and dedication, but undoubtedly, we underestimate the level of intensity. As a result, when we face adversity along that journey, we are mentally underprepared, and our mind becomes filled with doubt that the success we envisioned may not be possible after all. The journey towards achieving goals, personal success, wealth, happiness, and fulfillment, is brutal, there's no shying away from that fact. The greater the reward, the more brutal the journey is. There are so many traits and characteristics that we need to both possess and maintain, in order to see that journey through. It's about having the patience to keep going for as long as it takes to reach that success, which often takes years. It's about having the will to continually work hard, constantly directing our focus on the actions required to reach the goal, despite the intensity, pain, and mundane nature of these actions. It's about having the courage to take risks in order to achieve what we desire. It's about making sacrifices, giving up some things we enjoy that provide us that short boost of satisfaction and enjoyment, rather than long term. It's about having the resistance to repel the judgement, doubt, and criticism from others, about our decisions, actions, and the journey itself. It's about having the drive and motivation to fulfill our goals, using it to spur us on, no matter the circumstances. It's about having the determination to succeed. It's about having the adaptability to change actions, and embrace new concepts. Above all, it's about having the resilience to overcome all adversities, challenges, and failures, then to have the perseverance to keep on going, no matter how tough things get.
It's never an easy journey, we know that, and despite our constant hopes and wishes that things will just work out for us, without the need to apply ourselves too much, or have to sacrifice too much, or have to wait too long, life rarely works that way. If we want something bad enough, we need to work hard for it, we need to face up to pain, challenge and adversity, and we need to do whatever it takes to achieve that goal. Failure is part of that journey, and many people view failure as a negative. Many people view failure as a sign that something is just simply not meant to be, a subtle hint from the universe telling us that we are wasting our time, money, and energy, and that's where the doubt creeps in. Perhaps one or two failures, and most people are understanding, and acknowledge that something isn't working, and they need to change up, or work harder. They accept this is normal, and will continue trying, but the longer time ticks on, and the longer success remains absent, the more that the failures keep coming, and the outlook of achievement continues feeling distant, the higher that level of doubt increases. That's why people take the option of giving up. They grow tired of working so hard, sacrificing non-stop, applying so much time into something, and never visually viewing signs of any progress or success, so they end their journey there and then. Some people quit after a few weeks, some people quit after a few months, some people even see out 2,3, 4, or even more, years, but for most people, they simply cannot endure the journey any longer, because they totally lose the faith and belief in success. So many people are so close to success, yet they never even realize it, because they quit before making that one further change, or taking that one extra step, that would have got them there.
So we know that the journey is brutal, we know that we are bound to fail time and time again, we know that we are going to have to work hard and be patient for several years, we know that we will have to take risks, and we know that we will have to make sacrifices, but how much do we really want success, that's what we need to ask ourselves? With all this mind, that leaves us an even bigger question. Are we going to become someone who is a quitter or a fighter? Do we really want to allow failure to defeat us, to allow doubt to steal our opportunity for success, wealth, happiness, and satisfaction? Trust me, I have seen first hand of how difficult and painful this journey really is, and all the sacrifices I have had to make, all the precious things I have had to let go of, but you never enter a race with the intention of not crossing the finish line, after all. Maybe some people cross that finish line slower than others, but they still cross it, because they kept going towards it. You're not in a race against anyone else or against time, you are in that race to cross that finish line, that is all you need to do, and that is success! The harder you have to work for it, the more pain you have to endure to reach it, and the longer you take to achieve it, the more satisfying the success becomes. It's true what they say, quitters never win, and winners never quit. You simply cannot achieve success if you quit, that's a fact! Success is up to you, and your attitude. No matter the obstacles and challenges you face, find a way to overcome them. Step out of your comfort zone, take action in doing things that may feel uncomfortable, yet you know are necessary, in order to succeed. Your time will come if you simply keep on persevering! Change the actions that aren't working, keep working hard, stay positive, and believe in yourself. I've said it time and time again, but you can achieve anything you set your mind to, but being a quitter will never get you there. Be a winner, not a quitter!
