pluses on a bad day

winding up the trolls

By ASHLEY SMITHPublished 6 years ago 3 min read

My mood and mental health is quite bad at present and the news I get is bad, so I take anything I can for a cheer up. After a day as a frontline carer, stinking from the sweat and fed up after hearing a close friend is heading for his last few days on earth. As I struggled through the day and while perusing Facebook and trying to share posts pointing out the problems with covid and its treatment.

I was sharing about the problems and risks of the medication Trump had promoted and some were referencing in utube stories. I think was commenting about how dangerous it was to take advice from someone who knows nothing on the subject. I was mentioning the dangerous side effects when someone who popped out that I had argued with before.

He is one of the dangerous people who I was talking about, the ones who believe any rubbish and share it around. He has decided that what he hears is true based on one discredited quack says on a video somewhere. Usually that sort of person can annoy me usually, especially as I am a worker trying to keep covid from my care home.

I have decided to stick to the truth, pick holes in what they say and try and have fun with them. I know what I am talking about through training, experience and constant updates. I also read and learn from reputable sources. I know when I am getting to him and know how to wind him up.

Its a bit basic and trivial but its fun , especially when I need it. He has been on a couple of times and there's been a couple of other similar people. The people that know it all, even when talking to people who know better. I don't mind an argument know and again on line, indeed I used to belong to a debate group .I tend to stick to my guns when I am positive but always try and back up my views.

The people that say 5g will fry your brain because someone said it on a video watched by 6 people annoy me. That want an argument and I enjoy one of facts and proof. They don't accept other people views and so are easier to bait and contradict.

The other one who appears now and again is a lady I went to school with, she tends to read the scary headlines and not the content. She was panicking about the new virus tracking system beginning in the uk. She read the headline about it, panicked and shared it. She didn't read the bit where it says it wasn't yet going to happen in this country.

When I point that out and other flaws, all I get is the headline repeated. I enjoy the arguing as again I know I am speaking fact and not just believing any old rubbish. We have argued before but also shared some fun posts as well. It was strange as it got more and more heated but was so late and I carried on.

As I said before this is trivial and a bit silly but I take anything I can these days. Take whatever you can from life, find the good among the bad. Maybe a bit of music or a funny tv show or a podcast, anything to get out of the world for a bit. I survive due to my wireless headphones and my telephone. I have podcasts and music on at every chance I can.

Winding some trolls up on Facebook helps as well of course.
