Only the Aries.

Ruled by Mars and named after the Roman god of war, the Aries is a headstrong cardinal sign that is content with jumping headfirst into the fire.

I'm to blame by country singer Kip Moore perfectly sums up the Aries' personality," where there is a do not touch my fingertips done stained it," the country singer croons. An Aries is the life of the party, everybody's best friend and sometimes a wild child. Aries are also known to have a moody side where they may become impatient, irritable, or even aggressive. However, like the statement made in Moores's song, an Aries will also jump straight out of the pan directly into the fire without stopping to think. Aries is large and in charge and always comes first. So, when the season's change and March begins, it's time for Aries to shine and you better be ready for a wild ride.

March 21st not only signals the first day of spring but also introduces the cardinal sign, Aries. Aries is the first ruling house in the zodiac, and March 21st just so happens to be my birthday. While many people joke about the zodiac and astrology as a whole, I do not. I grew up in a household where my mother followed her horoscope daily and shaped her personality to be precisely the Aquarius definition. Lucky for her, she got a daughter that is the embodiment of an Aries woman.

I have always been told that I am audacious and independent, but as I grew older, I began to believe in the zodiac's power and just how it might affect my personality. I love to play sports, and I am always up for a competition. I am never content unless I have a challenge and something to keep me busy. I will do anything and everything to prove a naysayer wrong. My grandmother always called me headstrong, and I was always being chastised as a child for acting before I think. To many, I might come off as brash or even rude, but it's not that I'm trying to on purpose, I prefer the truth and know that sometimes it might hurt, but in the long run, it's for the best.

In high school, I honestly did not care what others thought about me, and I was typically regarded as the "tough" girl. I even went to prom by myself one year because " I was a strong independent woman, and didn't need a man." I thought of myself as the leader of the pack and was incredibly confident. Aries element is fire and is typically aligned with the color red; knowing this, I chose red as my color and always incorporated it into everything I wore. I embodied Aries's definition and molded my personality to combine all of Aries's traits, whether good or bad.

It wasn't until I met my husband, a goofy and awkward Pisces, that I began to see that maybe I needed to think of others first and reign in my fiery personality. My husband is tender-hearted and compassionate about the things he loves and enjoys. It took a while to understand that my teasing was not always fun for my husband, and I was indeed hurting his feelings. We are the total opposites, our signs are water and fire, but we make it work. My husband's patience balances out my stubbornness perfectly. The joke was when I was blessed with a Pisces child who is just like his father and a Gemini child who might even be more stubborn than myself. While I don't follow the zodiac as near as I once did, I still incorporate many of the lessons I have learned through the thousands of horoscopes that I have read. I also influence my children to read theirs now and again to gain perspective.

To reign in some of my Aries energy, I have also found new hobbies such as racing go-karts on dirt tracks in competition and also practicing archery. This has become my perfect release to any pent-up energy or frustrations I might have while allowing me to remain competitive. I also become reclusive and love just staying in my house, not talking to anybody but just listening to my vast range of musical genres on full blast. Nothing makes me happier than a warm day at the lake, sitting on the beach tanning, or even flying through the waters on our boat. As I have grown older, I have found ways to transform that brash and brutally honest mouth of mine into a voice of leadership and positivity. Taking chances and jumping headfirst into the fire has gotten me a long way and has even lead me into a management position at my current job.

My mother's unorthodox views and faith in the Zodiac have been passed on to me and have lead to me learning many different lessons about my personality and how to use it to my advantage. Being an Aries has its perks and leads me to be brave, courageous, and adventurous. Had my mother not have taught me the ways of the zodiac, I might not be who I am today, and I know for sure I love who I am and wouldn't change it for the world. I am confident in who I am and who I want to be, and my place in the world.

While many don't believe in the zodiac and view it as a pseudoscience, I think astrology can help improve oneself for the best while also creating a self-fulfilling prophecy by instilling hope and confidence in those who believe.
