New Year's Resolution 2025

It feels like I just finished writing my 2024 New Year's resolution. And here comes 2025. And we are now in mid-January already? How time flew and went so fast.

So let us get to business. What are my New Year's resolution for 2025? Copy-paste, same as last year? I am not going to lie, I have ongoing New Year's resolution some are as old as five years now. They are the ones that I am struggling but hopeful that one day they will no longer be in my list of New Year's resolution because I have successfully accomplished them. Or because I have finally given up and accepted the fact that I cannot do them. And there are those on my list which I started doing but did not end up finishing them. And some others I even haven't started because either they are crazy hard or not even realistic. But in fairness to myself there were also those I knew did not materialize because it was not yet time, I was not yet ready to do them. They are big ideas, grand but doable. I did not have enough knowledge and the proper skills, the maturity and readiness to embark on those resolutions and projects that is why they did not come into fruition.

But 2025 is different. I feel the universe is opening up and some cosmic energy is telling me, I am ready! My mind, my heart, my hands are open, they are ready and welcome to receive all blessings, all kinds of opportunities that are coming my way. And something is telling me that everything I will work on will prosper.

So for my first New Year's resolution: I will set aside time, 10-15 minutes to write. Write about what? Just the habit of writing, it doesn't need to be long, it doesn't need to be logical or sensible, it doesn't need to be grammatically or politically correct. It doesn't need to be a masterpiece. Simply to get into the habit of writing, get the intention and the discipline of writing in preparation for writing a book.

Since my first poem was published here in Vocal which for me a validation that I can write, I started to entertain the idea of writing a book. That gives me the inspiration and motivation to write a book not just writing a poem here and there, or for a challenge or for a friend, or for myself because I find it therapeutic too aside from the fact that it is fun just writing a poem. I love playing with words. And so that is the reason how and why I came up with my first New Year's resolution. I am hoping to write a book as a result of this exercise or this habit of daily writing. So that's it for my First Resolution.

Let's move on to my second New Year's resolution. I want to train for a 5k run and join Mud Run, Color Run or Foam Fest. I want to build my endurance and stamina. Training for those fun runs and knowing that you are also running for a cause is a good motivation and fun way of achieving this resolution. And again this is also to get the habit and discipline of being physically active and fit. I had a pending goal last year which did not materialize because of the wind condition which is very crucial and important in giving a go for a fun and safe sky diving. And I am doing this again this year with friends from work. Hopefully we will be lucky and we will choose the date that the weather is not only nice but also the wind will cooperate and will be on our side. I thought I was successful in praying for a good weather, because the weather that day was really nice except for the wind which I did not even give a thought, that the quality of wind matters and will greatly affect sky diving. That's what happen when it is your first time, you are only thinking of the fun part which is the actual sky diving that's it. Other activities that I plan to engage and get involve with are weight training, dancing and swimming. I was supposed to go to the nearest gym today to inquire about the schedules on dancing and swimming but I got distracted and when I remembered it was already late, the gym is close. For the weight training, my partner and I already arranged a schedule to do the training together online. All these physical activities are not only to keep me physically fit and healthy, these are also in preparation for my climb in 2028. My university friends plan to climb Mount Apo, also known as the “King of Philippine Mountains", being the tallest mountain in the Philippines with an elevation of 2, 956 meters above sea level (according to Wikipedia).

These are my two major New Year's resolution for 2025. Of course I still have those ongoing resolutions I started three years ago like having additional income through investing in crypto, mutual funds and stocks and putting money in cooperative and small bank. Reading one book at least per month which I started with a reading buddy when covid started and you were stuck at home most of the time, you really cannot go anywhere. And another outstanding project was getting to bed before midnight, which I found really difficult but I had couple of wins. This one stayed on my list the longest I guess, I don't even remember when I started putting it in my New Year's resolution list. But I am hopeful, I haven't given this resolution up yet. As I was saying earlier I feel very positive and hopeful that I will not be seeing this resolution on my list next year. And the last one from last year's resolution is writing at least one poem or a story to publish in Vocal once a month which I wasn't successful, I only managed to submit four poems I think in 2024? So let us try again this year with this entry as my first for 2025. Best of luck!
