New Year, New Habits: Love Yourself & Live Out Your Potential

I think we can all come to the conclusion that the past year has been full of arduous challenges that the majority of us are extremely glad that it’s over. The time to turn over a new leaf and live out every single goal is now. I don’t know about you all but I am more motivated than ever this year. In 2020, literally from January to December was super depressing for me through and through, but this year, however, I have a good feeling about.

As I get older, I’m learning that setting good boundaries consists of clearly stating what you will and won’t take. So I thought what better way to start a new chapter than to create a list comprised of the habits I am willing to implement into my life and daily routine so I won’t hold myself back from reaching my goals because SIS we’re not making any excuses in 2021

Stop over indulging

Since the pandemic I have been at home a lot more, which of course I cook and eat much more. As a result of being at home more than usual, I tend to snack a lot more, especially since I recently got a work from home job. To tackle this, I will try to eat more and drink more smoothies. Also, I will buy more meal kits with vegetable medleys so that meal prep will be easier and healthier at the same time.

Belittling myself and potential

At one point, I found that I constantly belittled and this was mostly because other people did this to me. As a result, I’ve had low self-esteem and did not believe in myself for a very long time. This was a big mistake because not believing in myself has held me back from many opportunities. I realized over time that we have to make conscious decision to overcome self-doubt to evolve into our best selves. Lately, I have been facing my self-doubt by using positive self-talk and speaking positive affirmations to myself even in the shadow of doubt and times when things get tough. It is important to do this because if we allow our circumstances to bring us down from positivity, then we go back to square one.

Hold off writing my first book

For the last couple of years, I have been aspiring to become paid and published author and writer one day. I know that its possible for me, however, I cant seem to stick to an idea or a single genre. This year however, I’m just going to start and stick to it even if I don’t finish completely and its okay. Writing a good quality novel can be difficult, but I know it’ll be super rewarding in the end

Delay getting my pharmacy technician certification/license

In August of 2020, I started pharmacy technician school and its only February 2, 2021, but I will finish. I hope to finish at least by June and no later than that. I included this because I have dropped out of school before, went back to school and thought I would never finish because something in my life got in the way. So now, I’m committing myself to finish the endeavors I start.

Comparing myself to others

Every time I get on social media, I see people traveling and living it up despite the pandemic and I always think to myself “Where did I go wrong?” “I should have been there by now.” I try not think that I wasted my life because I’m still very young. I try to remind myself that my life isn’t over and that one day, everything will be much different because the bad times never last. Besides, everybody has an down season and an up season, right?

Overall, I dedicate this year to push myself even further, loving myself more, staying away from negativity and just being the best me I can be. I definitely feel that I have to do this for my daughter’s sake because what good would I be to her if I’m not okay.
