God of the Moon and Stars.

God of the moon and stars

God of the near and far

God of the fragile hearts we are, I come to you.

God of our history, God of the future that will be,

What will you make of me, I come to you. (Paul Fields)

Introduction. The beauty and the mystery of God’s moon simply takes our breath away. Add to this magic. God’s artistry as it’s light softly paints the tips of the surf silver.

Scripture Readings: When I look at Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have set in place, (Psalm 8:3, ESV)

By the Word of the Lord the heavens were made, and by the breath of His mouth all their host. (Psalm 33:6, ESV)

Waves of awe and amazement gently flood our hearts and our souls. As we gaze at the vastness and the allure, which is God’s heavens. We stand in silence in the Holy presence of the Almighty One. Our hearts overflow with love and in thanksgiving to our God. The Almighty God who created all this marvel and wonderment, we praise Your Holy name. Words are not nearly enough, to describe such a miraculous creation. His universe was brought into existence through our Creator’s divine love and by the power of the Word of God.

All the stars which sparkle and twinkle like precious diamonds hung by God in our night sky. An occasional shooting star, visiting from distant solar systems and galaxies. If they could, such tales of God’s love they would whisper to us. Are they God’s messengers, falling to earth??? Which one used by God for the three kings to follow to Bethlehem? On the night of our Messiah’s birth.

Of course, there is earth’s neighbor, our moon. She has been keeping us company since time immoral. Poets write of their love to her. Songs written of broken hearts to her. Couples in love walking hand in hand safely in her light. Sailors navigate to their home harbor in her light and under her guidance. Her gravity dictates our tides. Lunar calendar’s dictate seasons and dates, under her tutelage.

Scripture Reading: Like the moon it shall be established forever, a faithful witness in the skies. Selah (Psalm 89:37, ESV)

Our moon is far more than a lump of rock, orbiting in the cold and desolate night sky. Can you imagine the clarity of the night sky and the myriad of stars, viewed from the moon. By the fortunate few who have stepped onto her surface. No light pollution or thick atmosphere there to spoil their view of God’s wonder and marvel. They would see the Earth on the horizon.

Scripture Reading: to Him who made the great lights, for His steadfast love endures forever. The sun to rule over the day, for His steadfast love endures forever. The moon and stars to rule over the night, for His steadfast love endures forever. (Psalm 136:7–9, ESV

Who are we that God our Father loves us so???

Scripture Reading: So, God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. (Genesis 1:27, NIV)

Who are we??? You and I are the ultimate and crowning creation of our creator God. We are made from and through God’s supreme, divine and powerful love. You and I came into existence by His Word. God, the Holy One breathed into us the breath of life. Our creator God made us in His own image and in the very likeness of God Himself.

Scripture Readings: Then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. (Genesis 2:7, ESV)

Thus says God, the Lord, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and Spirit to those who walk in it: (Isaiah 42:5, ESV)

Jesus our Lord and our personal Savior. Christ Jesus welcomes and invites you and I into the Heavenly Family of God.

There is another miracle to be added to God’s act of divine love. The miracle and soul-saving power of Jesus' saving grace. At the moment we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. You and I are welcomed and received into the Heavenly family of our Father, God. From the moment of our salvation till eternity we live in the Kingdom of God. We are called by the Heavenly Father the children of God.

Scripture Readings: But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God, (John 1:12, ESV)

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so, we are. (1 John 3:1a, ESV)

The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, (Romans 8:16, ESV)

There is no denying the importance of family.

Our family must always be top priority in our life. After God our Heavenly Father, that is. Treasured and cherished family time. Vacations spent strolling along my favorite beach. With the people I love more than words can say. Stolen time with my husband and two adorable sons, grown men now. But they will forever be my babies in my heart.

Our best time of these holidays. You guessed it. Late in the evening, especially under a full moon. The turning of the tide. The light of God’s moon magically tipping the surf silver. As we splash at the surf’s edge, she sparkles and shimmers silver in the spray. No words are needed to pass between us. A lifetime of love shared in such precious moments.

Why do I call it stolen time? We return to our separate and busy lives, once vacation time is over. So, stolen time it is. But ever so looked forward to and cherished.

Family is more valued than all the gold in the world. Family is priceless and must be loved with all our hearts. Family should be and must always be remembered in all our prayers and placed before our Heavenly Father constantly.

As a family member of God’s Heavenly family, we never forget at what cost our membership was paid. Every we day is an opportunity for you and for me to show to our Father that we don’t forget the price His Son paid.

Scripture Reading: God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8, ESV)

Life, breath and our family. They are all precious gifts from our Father in Heaven. The most precious gift of all is the saving grace of Jesus. You and I are washed clean through the pure and sweet blood of the Lamb of God.

John the Baptist, called out as he saw Jesus, walking in the distance.

Scripture Readings: The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world! (John 1:29, ESV)

and he looked at Jesus as He walked by and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God!” (John 1:36, ESV)

I quite often recall Jesus’ comment. Christ comes not for the righteous person. But for the sinner. Yes, our Lord came for you and for me. We are now among the holy and the righteous. We are clean and righteous once more. Washed afresh and anew in the precious and sacrificial blood of Jesus. To our Lord and our personal Savior, Christ Jesus we offer our praise and our thanks. Amen!

When you and I spend loving time with our family, we feel loved. Truly loved. You and I feel we belong to someone oh! so special and precious. So, it is in our Heavenly Family. We are loved by God and belong to Him. We love our Father with all our Heart and with all with have.
