With so much going on in the world, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and even numb.
I think of this general feeling of nothing, numb like sitting on your feet as a young child. Lying on your feet so long, they would fall asleep. How, like this child, you would laugh as the blood started to rush back to your toes. This rushing sensation felt like a good tickle from a loved one.
We can be shaken out of this feeling of nothingness, to unfreeze our mental hardware, we must move with intention and focus our energy on gratitude. To do this, we must think back to younger times when things were less complicated. We feel the blood rushing back to our toes, and we remember all of the times we have dipped our toes into the sand on an adventure. Or all the times we have gently submerged our toes into a warm bath that we made for ourselves with intention.
Now that our toes have woken up, we focus our energy on the arches of our feet and like to think of all the times we have underestimated their role. Our feet have supported us through good times and bad. We remember how much we have been through already, and we remind ourselves that we can get through this too.
Energy is now rushing up to our ankles and our calves. We think back to friendship bracelets that we made as children that once hung loosely from our ankles. We think again on these friendships and are grateful that they happened.
Continuing up our body, the energy is now surging through our knees, and we think back to jeans that were ripped due to wear and tear. Jeans that told a good story of a good adventure. We think back to days before we cared about what was stylish.
Our thighs are now awakened, and we thank them for being the largest muscle group in our body able to support us through all of the steps we take in this life. We apologize for all the times, we hated them and realize now that no matter what size our body is perfect the way it is.
Our body adapts and changes with us as it has always done and will continue to do. We feel this newly awakened energy leaving our legs and entering our torso here is where we process all of the nutrients that come to our body. We appreciate having nutrients to process and are impressed by our body's ability to do so.
Now the blood flow that has traveled throughout our body breaking us free from numbness it goes through our chest. Through our lungs that we use to take a deep breath in and savor the world around us. Through our heart, which is responsible for this very same reinvigoration.
Our chest is now fully recharged, and our arms begin to wake up. The feeling of numbness leaves our arms, traveling downward and exiting the fingertips. We feel them one by one. Piny. Ring. Middle. Index. Thumb.
We breathe in slowly as we bring our attention to our fingertips. Gently wiggling them, we bring our hands to our temple, thanking our heads and our minds for taking the time for itself today. We rotate our necks coming out of this meditation and extend our energy upwards through the crown of our heads and down through our toes where it all began.
