What’s your artist name and where are you from?
My project name is Ty_Makes_Music, I hail from Northern Colorado.
Why do you love music?
I love music because it allows me to express myself through a medium that anybody can access, free of cost. Although there is only so much you can say in a three minute song, I very much value quality over quantity.
What makes you different as a music artist?
I distinguish myself as an artist by never being afraid to try new things. I have an appreciation for all music, regardless of the genre or target demographic; if it’s good, it’s good. Due to this open minded outlook on art, I can incorporate my favorite parts of each genre into my own personal craft. Whether that comes in the form of genre blending, lyrical writing style, or something as simple as a new vocal layering technique, I truly believe that I’ll have a song in my discography for everybody, one day.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Although I am unsure of an exact occupation, I spend every day of the present opening as many doors for myself in the future as possible through talking to new people and trying new things. The world is unpredictable, so is imagining who I will be in five years; especially since I am only 19 years old. I am sure that whenever the time comes, I will be able to make the decision that is right for me.
What do you want to accomplish in life?
I aspire to pave a path to creative success in life that anybody can use, one day. I am very lucky to have a circle of people who truly made me believe that I could be anything I wanted to in the world, so long as I put my mind to it and try my best. Friends and family whose energy I can look up to and channel whenever I feel discouraged. I want to be able to provide this same exact support to as many other grateful, kind hearted, and positive creatives that I can. There are so many wonderful stories and ideas waiting to blossom into fruition, but are put on hold by their authors being puppeteered by self doubt and not knowing where to start. I want to show them that their dreams don’t have to stay dreams, as well as give them a clear blueprint to do so.
What do you bring to the music world?
I’ve never been one for labels or classification. There are lessons to be learned from everybody on Earth, and I believe that including as many different viewpoints as possible in my work enables it to transcend beyond a simple “song”, rather, a vessel directly into the soul. I’ve said it before, but I embrace my weaknesses as well as my strengths, I have no problem asking for a helping hand. Not only in the name of better music, but in the name of amplifying new ideas to people who might not have heard them otherwise.
What do you want to be remembered by?
I want to be remembered by the people like myself, those who feel out of place no matter where they go. Those who are unapologetically themselves, no matter how off-color that may be, and never fit in because of it. Even as small as I am at the moment, the amount of people who have credited me as their inspiration to “get themselves out there” is something I never dreamed that a few silly songs could ever accomplish.
