Making and Finishing Goals

Being Held Accountable

By Kitty SturgesPublished 5 years ago 2 min read

I think it is great to have goals but following through with them can be hard. I have goals that I want to finish by the end of the year from personal to career goals. I am doing this blog because I am want to be held accountable for not reaching these goals. I am very good at making a plan and setting goals but I am not good at achieving them. Either because I just don't feel motivate to finish or even start the goals that I made. Does anyone feel like that?

You have a goal and you have a plan to reach the goal, but suddenly you have doubt why you don't know or you don't want to know. Because you must face the feelings you try to avoid. Because it feels good to make goals and make plans, but you realize how much work it will take to make those goal a reality. You fear that after you do the some of the work you realize that you are not going to finish or it going to take longer than you realize and you feel discourage. So you stop trying. I have been there I stop trying and started doing the opposite of what my parents taught me for five to six years I stopped trying with everything from my looks to my home to my dreams. Just stopped trying because why would I try to do something new or set new goals when I am going to fail anyway. Please if you can try to get rid of this feeling if you do experience it. I know it can be hard trust me it was hard for me too.

Sometimes I still get that feeling where why would I clean my apartment when it will get dirty by the end of the day or next day. When I have a bad day of work why would I keep working. Why would keep doing my outline for my book when it is not going to be successful anyway so why would I keep writing and why keep doing anything. Then you have feelings like why succeed in your goals when you don't deserve to succeed in achieving your goals. Those are the worst feeling you or I can have which I still sometimes have.

The best ways to get rid of these feelings first realize you have a problem and get yourself help. I did and it is the best thing I did. The first thing I did was take accountability for the things i did in my depression that was my first step. Also have a more positive outlook on your day when you wake up. Also have a journal where you write how you are greatful for what happen that day. It can be big or small. During the day leave the blinds open to let in sunlight in the sun is a great emotion healer. Next clean out your apartment or house or room you will feel much better after you do this step and keep it up. Keep trying have the drive to try if you have nothing left in you just keep trying. I know it is hard believe me I know i still have my bad weeks. I will never stop trying and I hope you keep trying also.
