Make it all about you in 2022

self love baby self love

In numerology the number 2 symbolizes relationships and partnerships and is known to numerologists as the supremely feminine source, representing both grace and power. And that's what 2022 is all about after all…We all have the grace and power to cultivate a better relationship with ourselves. The pandemic has taken its toll on our mental health and in retrospect the isolation has given us all a refreshing new insight on our own relationships with self. Are we being kinder to ourselves? Are we using our precious time to take better care of our bodies, minds and souls? Are we planting the seeds we wish to be cultivating in the future?

When it comes to resolutions, we often think of how we can be of better service to others. We wish to spend more time with friends, volunteer at a local non profit, or donate more of our income to charities. And while these deeds are absolutely worthy of our time and investments, this year we are dubbing a ‘resolution revolution’ by putting the best versions of ourselves first! This means prioritizing our needs, honouring boundaries, and making sure we get enough rest so we can stay focused on manifesting our goals :)

In turn you will become the best version of yourself, and when you make feeling good a priority, everything else falls into place. Everyday is a chance to get better at practicing self care techniques. In fact, at first it may even feel uncomfortable or even meaningless. The focus is not on seeing immediate results but rather making small strides into making these tasks into a daily routine (planting the seed)

Here is a quick Self Love reference list to help you stay accountable in 2022

1. Gratitude Journaling

This is something I enjoy doing each morning with my coffee. I like writing them down because you get to see the pages fill up with big and little things that make your heart happy. It can always serve as a great reminder if you are down. But please don't complicate it, if you don't have a pen and paper, put it in your notes on your phone, or say them outloud to your cat like I sometimes do :) Cultivating an attitude of gratitude will seriously change your perspective in many surprising ways, especially when you're running late in the coffee line before work.

2. Meditation

We see this topic everywhere, but what does it mean and where do we start? Youtube, that's where we start. There are so many different types of meditations, guided, focused, mantra, spiritual…but the most important focus of all to take from any meditation practice is stillness of the mind. Get into a quiet space, get comfortable, let your thoughts wander and without judgement, allow your thoughts to come and go as they please. Honour the process and the feelings and emotions that come up and present themselves, there is no right or wrong way to meditate. Breath in and breath out. Let it go.

3. Mindfulness

This is also a type of meditation but more so a way of life. Ancient Buddhist teachings such as mindfulness have proven to teach us to release stress in the moment. Challenge yourself this year to be more mindful in everything you do. Observe with a beginners mind. See new perspectives, ask questions. Wake up and make your bed in the morning, eat your breakfast at the table without distractions, set up times to put away your phone, dedicate time to move your body through dance or yoga. When practicing mindfulness, we can begin to nurture a tone of surrender to those circumstances we cannot control or change. This is bliss.

4. Rest

The importance of rest needs to be stressed this New Year. If you need a new mattress because your back is killing you every day, it really is time to buy yourself a new one, you do deserve it after all. Are you taking breaks throughout your day? Are you getting enough fresh air and soaking in your surroundings? Can you remember to stop scrolling an hour before bed and pick up that book you've been meaning to get to instead? Are you ready to manifest your dreams by setting clear intentions each and everyday. Can you practice using your voice to stick up for what feels right to you? Can you say no when you need to? Will you promise to allow yourself to put your self care before anybody else’s needs? Resting is the utmost important daily practice we can take upon ourselves, and that in itself is sourced right from the divine feminine through your own grace and power.

Happy 2022, may this New Year bring you many blessings
