What is the EGO?

Your ego also play significant role in shaping the way you feel. To gain more control you must understand what is your ego how to control your emotion. This is the crucial part where most people will miss.

Let's get this straight. Pride is undoubtedly a manifestation of ego, that's only part of it. You may show nopride and appear humble while still being controlled by your ego. Now we are starting to get a real part of EGO.

Ego refers to self identity you've construct throughtout your life. How was this identity created? The ego was created through your thoughts and minded created reality has no concrete reality. Events that happen bear no meaning but you give it to yourself.

Additionally, you accept things about yourself because people told you to do so. You already has been identify with your name, your age, your religion, your political belief, or your occupation in a similar way. In other way this will create attachment.

This attachment has consequences. Attachment creates belief, and these belief lead to experiences certain emotions. You may despise someone when people criticize your religion and political principles. But here come the true questions.

Are you aware of your ego?

Because if you don't you need time to self reflect and process everything through whether is this something you believe or someone already push on you. Understanding your ego works depend on your level of self awareness.People at the lowest of the consciousness are not aware the ego exist and enslaved by it.

Highly conscious people can see through their ego. They understand how belief works and how excessive attachment to a set of belief can create suffering in their life. In effect,these individual become a master of their mind and are peace with themselves.

Lack of awareness makes ego gone bad.

Your ego needs an identity

You must have something to stand for. Your ego is a selfish entity only concerned about its survival. Interestingly, it is somewhat similar to your brain in the way it operates. It wants you to be a go-getter. It wants you to do, acquire and achive a great things so you can become a 'somebody'.

Ego needs identity. The way it does that is through identification with things, people or belief and ideas.

Another things to strengthen ego is through physical items.

The ego likes to identify material things. In todays world we probably could say capitalism and consumer society that we live today. In the capitalism sense, majority of the economy succeed of the capitalism. Which is hard to throw and there is an ego coming in.

Marketers understand people through logical and emotional stand point. That is why story is really powerful to sell something. For example if you want to buy a cloth you have to convince other peopla that you use that cloth. Tell a little story how do you end up buying that cloth.

Most dangerous about EGO

Your ego also uses beliefs to strengthen its identity. In extreme cases, people become so attached to their beliefs they are ready to die to protect them. Worse case, they are willing to kill people who disagree with them. Religion is a perfect illustration of the dangers of excessive attachment to beliefs. To strengthen identity, whether these belief are religious, political or metaphysical.

  5. Your Culture
  6. Your family/friends
  7. Your belief (political belief, religious, etc)
  8. Your personal story (Your interpretation of the past, your expectations regarding the future)
  9. Your problems (Illness. financial situation, victim mindset, etc)
  10. Your age
  11. Your job
  12. Your social status
  13. Your role (as empployee, homemaker, parental status, employment status, etc.)
  14. Material items (your house,car, clothes,phones, etc.)
  15. Your desires
