Drop the Expectations, They're Dangerous
I've been meaning to write this article for a whileee now. Constantly when something came up, I reflected on the topic of expectations and remembered I had a draft of this article saved on my Vocal page. So this is me getting around to it at 1:00 AM on a breezy Monday night.

The Secret to Happiness
I think most people have the idea that if the way to be happy was simple and easily accessible, then everyone would be happy. There wouldn't be so many unhappy people in the world. And we certainly wouldn't be unhappy. And so we have this idea that whatever that is, that method, that philosophy, that skill, or whatever it might be, must be a secret. Because otherwise everyone would be applying it in their lives.

One Day at a Time
Dear present self, This is your reminder that everything is going to be okay. You're going to get through this just like you did last time. Trust me, I know exactly what you're feeling right now. Now, I'm only going to say this to you once. Get up, tape up that heart of yours (I'll even provide you with the tape), pull your big girl pants on, and let's get through this. You're a warrior. And let me tell you why.

How Philosophy Can Make You Happy
If you are at all interested in philosophy or mindful thinking you will most likely have come across this man. Born on March 31, 1596, and living till the age of 53, René Descartes managed to achieve several things throughout what nowadays would be called a short lifetime. He was a French mathematician, scientist, and philosopher who made great strides in the field. As far as what those strides were, and how it can help us, let me go on to explain.

To Take the Long Road
Most might ask the question, “What do you mean by Take the Long Road? And in what context?”. That is something I’ll answer straight away. I suppose what I mean is, don’t settle. Don’t do what is easiest, that which doesn’t sit right, but is the option that takes the least effort. When we have a bad feeling, or a bad vibe, we should pay attention to it. If anyone has listened to the Chimp Paradox by Professor Steve Peters, they will know what I mean when I say that the bad feeling is our natural, primitive instinct sensing a threat or a danger to us. Now, whatever that danger might be, whether your safety, your health or even your mind is in danger, taking that easy road could damage your mental health. That bad vibe is something we need to listen to.

What It Means to Be Successful... in Life or As an Educator
Growing up, we always wondered how life would be as an adult. What career would we have? How would our families turn out? How might we view ourselves as successful people? I know that I have asked myself those questions about a million times. Although, the central issue that stands out to me is what it means to have success in life. Now, people may say that being successful means having the luxury of being rich and famous, having a high paying job, money, a big house, and fancy accessories; yet, people don’t realize that just having these things does not necessarily lead to happiness in life. It means something different to each one of us, and we are all striving for some form of it. For me, success means being able to accomplish my goals in life. It’s about getting the education that I deserve, finding the right career choice that will make me smile every day, having a family who I love and adore, and just being the person I believed I’d be when I grew up. Success is not all about the appearance. It is about the joys of working towards having a well-balanced life and striving for greatness.

11 Things That Will Make You Feel Better About Yourself
1. Look at yourself naked in the mirror for 5 minutes every day. It is essential to find love and comfort within the skin you're living in. Fall in love with the purity and the nature of your nude body by taking the time to admire yourself on a daily basis, and learn to grasp how empowering nudity is. (Another idea: do the exact same wearing your favourite lingerie!)

The Beauty We Live In
Everything is so fast-paced that no one takes the time anymore to really enjoy their surroundings; take in the beauty of the tree, the sounds as the rivers flow, or the feel of the grass and/or sand under their feet. There is so much going on around us that gets taken for granted, things that we don't even realize we are underappreciating because it's all we have ever known. There are many beautiful things in today's world, both manmade and natural, that everyone takes for granted on a daily basis. One of the many natural creations that I have always seemed to take for granted just so happens to be the clouds that delicately float above us in the sky.
