Kindness To Earth For 2025 — Give Earth A Reason To Thank You!
What if the Earth wasn’t kind to humans through rain and sunshine?

Happy new year Writers and Readers, and be Kinder for 2025.
“Why are you cutting down this fruit tree?” Clive demanded from Evan, who was using a machete to cut down his ackee tree.
“I can’t get fruits off it because of thieves,” he complains, chopping off the limbs he could reach from the ground.
“Come on, Evan. You get fruits, but not enough, really?” Clive questioned. “You can’t eat all the ackees on the tree when it bears. No one can eat all of the fruits that these trees bear annually!”
“Well, it’s my tree, and I can do what I want,” Evan defends, still chopping.
“But you didn’t plant it. You bought the property with the tree on it,” Clive tries to persuade him to let it live.

“You get lots of mangoes off your trees,” Evan reminds Clive.

“My grandfather planted my mango tree from which you always get mangoes,” Clive informs him.
“Wow, and the mangoes are delicious,” he said, licking his lips, pausing, and resting the Machete on the ground.
“You didn’t plant that Ackee tree. You hardly share your fruits, so that’s why people steal them. You would rather chop it down than feed humanity?” Clive rage demands.

Ackee is Jamaica’s national fruit. It is loved and eaten almost every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in homes across the Country.
“What if the rain didn’t fall and no one watered the seeds planted in the soil?” Clive wondered out loud.

Confusion lined Evan’s face, and Clive explained further, “Trees are like our children. When they are young, they are taken care of. When they become adults, they are on their own. When these trees reach a certain height, they must fend for themselves. Mother Nature steps in and cares for them. Not humans.”
Evan blinked several times to lessen the pain he felt from his eyes popping as reality, and the truth spank him.

Clive continue to educate him, “All fruit trees in our community, what if they weren’t watered when planted? No rain from Mother Earth and no water/kindness from humans. Do you think they would be alive to bear and feed us? Earth doesn’t rely upon us. We rely on Earth to survive.”

Evan blinked more, and Clive piled on more. “Earth gives us kindness when it rains. Millions of other humans and I have returned kindness to Earth when we water its plants and share our fruits. We give back to plants, and they return the kindness by feeding us. You get lots of fruits and vegetables from my garden. If I don’t water it or the rain doesn’t fall and the sun doesn’t shine, we don’t eat!”
Evan sighed and gulped down more understanding painfully.

Clive reminds him, “You and other humans keep taking from Earth. Hardly giving back. Giving kindness opens doors — new doors for you. Earth gives. Now think — no water, no sun, no humans. Kindness is necessary for humanity to exist. Start giving back some of the generosity you always take from Earth by keeping that tree alive. Kindness opens new doors for you.”
“I never thought of it that way,” Evan revealed. “I just think of it as a tree that bears fruits.”

“Most of us don’t care how it got there as long as it provides for us,” Clive states. “Did you know kindness helps improve our mental and emotional health?”
“Ok,” Evan relents. “I won’t cut it down.”
“Earth, thank you!”
What about you? When was the last time Earth thanked you?
What if the Earth wasn’t kind to humans through rain and sunshine?

Many fruit trees are being cut down in my community for various reasons. I would never cut down a fruit tree feeding humanity, especially one I didn’t plant myself. Most of the homeowners here bought the property with the trees on it. They didn’t plant it, so they had no idea how it survived to be able to feed so many.
Yes, these trees are like our children. They are taken care of when they are small. Then, after a certain age/height, they must fight their own battles. Mother nature will step in and provide for them.
Do you wonder how that tree grows to nourish your body and mind? Feeding you and keeping you happy and healthy?
Earth is so kind to us.
For 2025, what if all of humanity decided to be kinder to Earth?
If your heart could speak, what would it say?
Earth is kind to us. What if all of humanity gives kindness back to Earth just once per day?

For 2025, let's be kinder to earth.
