The Power of Taking Risks and Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

Good evening everyone,

I want to start this speech by asking you all a question. How many times have you been in a situation where you felt nervous, anxious or unsure of yourself? Maybe it was before a big exam, a job interview, or an important presentation. Whatever the situation, I'm willing to bet that we've all been there at one time or another. And it's natural to feel nervous or scared when we're facing something new or challenging. But what if I told you that feeling nervous is not a bad thing? In fact, it might even be a sign that you're on the right track.

The title of my speech today is "If it makes you nervous, you're doing it right." And I want to talk to you about the importance of stepping out of your comfort zone, taking risks, and facing your fears in order to achieve your goals and dreams.

Let me ask you another question. Have you ever accomplished anything great without feeling at least a little bit nervous or scared? I highly doubt it. Because the truth is, in order to achieve something great, we often have to do things that make us uncomfortable. We have to take risks, face our fears, and step out of our comfort zones. And that's okay. In fact, it's more than okay. It's necessary.

So, why do we get nervous? Well, our bodies and minds are wired to respond to stressful situations in a certain way. When we face something new or challenging, our bodies release adrenaline and other stress hormones, which can cause us to feel nervous, anxious, or scared. This is a natural response that has evolved over millions of years to help us survive in dangerous situations.

But here's the thing: we're not cavemen anymore. We don't have to worry about being attacked by a wild animal or facing starvation. Instead, we're faced with more complex challenges, like starting a new job, pursuing a new hobby, or taking on a new responsibility. And while these challenges may not be life-threatening, they can still make us feel nervous or anxious.

So, how can we use this nervous energy to our advantage? First, we need to understand that feeling nervous is not a bad thing. In fact, it can be a sign that we're on the right track. When we feel nervous, it means we're stepping out of our comfort zones and doing something new or challenging. And that's exactly where we need to be if we want to grow and achieve our goals.

Second, we need to learn to embrace our nervousness. Instead of trying to suppress it or ignore it, we should acknowledge it and use it as fuel. We can use our nervous energy to stay focused, alert, and engaged in the task at hand. When we embrace our nervousness, we can turn it into a positive force that drives us forward, rather than holding us back.

Third, we need to remember that failure is not the end of the world. In fact, it's often a necessary step on the path to success. When we take risks and step out of our comfort zones, we may fail. But that's okay. Failure is not a reflection of our worth or our abilities. It's simply a learning experience that can help us grow and improve. When we embrace our failures and use them as opportunities to learn and grow, we become more resilient and better equipped to handle future challenges.

Finally, we need to surround ourselves with supportive people who believe in us and our goals. When we're facing something new or challenging, it's easy to feel isolated and alone. But we don't have to go through it alone. By surrounding ourselves with people who support and encourage us, we can find the motivation and strength we need to keep going, even when the going gets tough.
