How To Stay Happy: Everything You Need To Know?
The only way to be happy is to be grateful for what you have
You must have seen people with a lot of money, huge villa and a luxury car but they are still unhappy. Sometimes you will also see people who usually say when I will achieve this. I’ll be happy but they are always hopeless with life. The reason is that people usually condition their happiness with materialistic things that make and keep them unhappy. Because when you put conditions on your happiness, the mind will keep asking for more things and you won’t be happy. We should always remember that happiness is not about getting more but a state of mind that can be achieved even if you have nothing. This article will help you know how to stay happy and achieve that mental state.
Manage Your Sleep
Every individual need at least 6 to 7 hours of sleep depending on his body and activity level. But these days we are quite busy with social media, friends and parties. As a result, we don’t take enough sleep that results in increased stress, depression and anxiety. All of these conditions lead us to unhappy and dissatisfied life. We should have a proper sleep schedule to avoid unnecessary stress and to allow our body to fully heal after a busy day. Sleeping and waking up on the same time and taking 6 to 7 hours a day are the keys to happiness and satisfaction.
Eat Healthy Food
Studies have shown that if we eat oily, unhealthy and fatty foods that are loaded with unhealthy calories and carbs, our brain starts craving them more. It results in lack of satisfaction, increased hunger, obesity and hormonal imbalance. We should always eat healthy food and less quantity. Try to have smaller but frequent healthy meals. As it will increase happiness hormones, boost immunity and decrease excessive body fat. Avoid junk food, fatty cuts of meat and unhealthy carbs.
Stay with Positive People
It is an old saying that if you enter a fragrance shop, whether you buy it or not, your clothes will have a fresh scent. Same is the case of our company and gathering. If we hang out with negative people, chances are that we will become negative. Therefore, it is recommended to have good company and avoid toxic, hopeless and energy draining people.
Avoid Watching News
Media was meant to provide us information. But unfortunately, we became the buyers of negativity and media became helpless to sell it. Today, we have negative news, fear and anxiety all over the media that makes us unhappy. Exposing less to news and social media will help us to become positive and happy instead of becoming anxious.
Exercise Regularly
You will find numerous research papers that those who exercise regularly are more positive, energetic and happy as compare to those who don’t. When we exercise our body releases dopamine, endorphins (the happiness hormones) and reduces cortisol (the fear hormone). Sweating more allows our brain to reduce stress and increases happiness. This is the reason why athletes are more energetic, productive, positive and happy.
Focus on Positive Side
Most of the times our life is not that hard but we have the habit of seeing small issues as huge problems. We should focus on the positive side of the life and start avoiding small negative things whether they are behaviors of others, our financial issues or family problems. If we focus on what we have and become grateful for it, life changes in minutes. There is a wonderful blog on how to practice gratitude that you can also read.
Final Thoughts
Happiness is a mental state and it should not be attached with materialistic things. We should focus on the positives of life and become grateful for what we have. As it will help us becoming happier and satisfied.
