is it that time again?
are you sitting on a chair thinking about the same pattern when it repeats itself it really start a cycle that makes you not only unproductive but also unmotivated and frustrated if not sad. Can’t even remember the how you came out of it the last time it hit you? It’s been a while right it comes and go but mostly lingers for a longer period than you expect it.
Well, we all have those days and they hit us in the midst of a side-storms that we don’t even want to deal with but then it starts like a chain reactions of unfavorable events that goes on for eternity if not for infinity. We all been there and there are things that can be done to first take the edge out of this vicious cycle before completely mitigating it. Yes you have probably done it millions of times before but still the rut always repeats. Let’s handle this properly this time.
identify and acknowledge your default setting
More often than not with most of us human it happen to be a case that our thoughts default to negative settings. In-fact we tend to get caught up in negative default when we go through something that we didn’t ask for or expected yet got dragged into for whatever reason. This leaves us discombobulated and confused and we tend to make negative our default under some layers of sub conscious mind without ever taking it in consideration with out logical, conscious mind.
This leave us with a mindset in situations such as when we wake up in the morning our mind and thoughts go toward negativity. The usual life takes place but our preference gets inclined toward pessimism. This can be changed but a few things need to be acknowledged and shifted and a total mood reset is possible with a refreshed mind.
First thing first sit back and listen to your thoughts especially when you are not happy or things are not going as expected. You’ll realize they are not the best thoughts you ever had.We all have been there and if things are not going so well for a while it justifies even further but we can still have a peaceful evening even though the day wasn’t as great.
yes, it’s possible!
We can cultivate a habit in these difficult times to embrace the difficulties and dis-containment. Even though nothing is going as we planned but we still have at least a few things going how they were meant to go. Time to humble down a bit and embrace the fact that life is not just what we wish for but also it can get really really difficult for anybody at any given time and that’s how life is. This will restore your inner peace and would give you a closure about your difficulties and would open a new window in your mind how important the process is even though time is more crucial. We sometimes just don’t have control over anything at all and the more we struggle the more we suffer.

that sounds great but where’s the “reset” part?
We want to do it properly this time remember? when we have a computer or mobile phone problem we usually go to technician and ask them to fix our phone or computer. The technician run some troubleshooting and at the same times look for specific symptoms and after diagnosing and understanding the problem he suggests factory reset of some alternative solutions.
The same principle applies here too and far as symptoms go, you might want to reset your mind if;
> you get constantly distracted.
> you can’t keep your goals in the course of action.
> you’re constantly seeking for quick fixes out of frustration without even bothering to know about the underlying causes.
> lacking patience and attention.
> Running low on energy and want to hit the reset.
I have been through same phases in my life numerous times during my younger college going years and i didn’t even understand this was even possible; to reset the mind. So here’s how I’ve done it.
it is a simple process yet has different steps to follow through.
1.) Routine is the basis of everything that works even though the world around you might be crumbling into bits and pieces. A healthy wholesome routine for whole day works as a family anchor to your distracted mind and once you harbor a healthy routine it actually pays back many folds. Routines work and they should be followed through like a religion(speaking in terms of habit not spirituality). Incorporate healthy habits such as workout, stretching, breath-work and even meditation to create a space between the difficult moments you’re probably going through right now. Even a rigorous evening walk in the woods is more beneficial than just getting consumed by the same repeated thoughts.

2.) Say no to social media and other dopamine affecting activities. Even though one can have strong mentality at times we all see or read something that sub consciously makes as not adequate for example people are known for taking picture and writing things out for sheer pleasure of seeking some attention. The stuff they post may not be the most accurate version of what they are actually experiencing. Then there are camera angles, different type of shades and lights, filters… so many filters the list goes on and on. These things affects us deeper than we can truly comprehend and mind does get into states it naturally wouldn’t if you stayed away from social media for a period of time or permanently maybe?
3.)Solitude can be your best ally. Utilize the opportunity whenever you have some free time and make most out of it. Although during difficulty spells we barely have any free time but still we can make the moments count in between by just being mindful or taking a few deep breaths and walking around or even having a fresh smoothie by the fountain or under the tree of the compound.
4.) if you are looking for 1 thing that can reset and refresh your mental state with a push of some magical button then it’s all fantasies. Although you can still next best thing in the form of meditation and stretching workout. Stretching releases deep stored muscle tension and helps circulating blood as well help in regulating breathing rhythm. If you’re familiar with these too but didn’t have time, well no is that moment. To those who have no prior experience maybe it’s time to spend a day or two to research some basic steps and practice., you never know maybe this is what you’ve been looking for so long without even knowing.
5.)Ice baths and sauna! That’s right during this scorching summer we all get fed up with heatwave at some point and just want coolness of winter already. Well that can’t be arranged but taking a cold cold bath can be done any-day all you need is bunch of ice and a bathtub. In all honesty this one activity can really reset your mood so fast you would probably ask yourself “why I didn’t do this m whole life”. Now nobody is crazy enough to be in sauna at this temp. but during the chilly winters sauna has the same effect on mind as well as body as ice during prickly summers.
Goodluck!
