“Everything we are is the result of what we thought. The mind is everything. We think we become. ”~ Buddha

You experience and create all sorts of different energies that affect how you feel and what you accomplish throughout your day. Some forces are powerful and easily recognizable, while others are subtle and often sound only accurate. I believe it is fair to say that everything, in a sense, is power.

The things you say, the things you think, the things you do - even the things you don't - all produce energy that affects you and the people around you. If you work on building the best energy, you will see improvements in your life and you will touch more lives than you ever thought possible.

What do I mean by force?

I like to think powerfully as anything that needs to react within you. In other words, anything that makes you tick, meditate, feel, or react. Power comes to us in various ways. The chair you are sitting in, the music you are listening to, or a book you have just read, all remove the kind of response within you.

Take music, for example. How does your favorite song make you feel? What kind of energy do you like best in music? If you don't know what I'm talking about, get into your iTunes right now and enter your favorite song.

Take a break from reading this, close your eyes throughout the song, and see how you feel. Music is one of the most powerful and visible forms of energy, which is probably why it is rooted in many sacred traditions. A powerful artist can create similar feelings for many different people.

Be Powerful!

Music is an easy way to change your energy quickly. Athletes often listen to certain songs before games to help adrenaline; artists listen to music to help get their juices to create flowing; and many writers write with the help of music.

Although music is a simple way to grasp the concept, it is by no means the only source of energy.

Usually, when I wake up I open the curtains and let the sun go into the room. This is a great way to get strong for the first time in the morning. I don’t let the rain drain my energy, though. When it rains, I try to fully appreciate the beauty in front of me so it becomes a positive influence, too.

Maybe I'll follow a few drops of rain under the window or look at the waterfall form in the dam below me. In any case, I am fully present. I find being present is very important if you want to feel strong in a constructive way. If you are here and now, it is all a wonderful power!

How can you get the strength you need?

Make a list of all the things that make you feel good and use it as a guide as you learn to be strong in various things.

If nature is something that gives you strength, try spending more time outdoors. The more energy the sun gives you, the more likely it is that flowers, trees, and animals will do the same.

Some of the things that bring positive energy into my life include:

Yoga

Meditation

Old writing

Keeping a dream journal

Reading

Focus on gratitude

Why focus on direct energy?

Good energy is contagious. If you always take positive energy from your environment, it will be reflected in the outside world.

My good friend Alex is probably a good example of this. He is so real that he exerts power in everything he does. Everyone sees it and everyone loves to be around him. Feed his strength.

I couldn't begin to tell you how many times people told me stories about Alex making their day, or making them smile or just make them feel good. After many nightly discussions with Alex, the best advice I can share in this regard is to be fully here and there.
