How would you like to find the purpose and achieve something worth in your life? How would you like to develop your skills and increase productivity?

That would be pretty epic.

Well, this is entirely possible, and in today's article, I am going to show you how you can do this.

I will tell you how you can increase your productivity and attention span by doing some simple things.

I was sitting all alone, and suddenly a thought runs into my mind. Soon it gets through my nerves; boom, I started analysing myself. I started asking questions to the inner self. It was a kind of nostalgia giving self-talk. I started questioning myself, feeling ambivalent at the same moment.

Some of the questions were like;

  • Who Are You Really and What Do You Want?
  • What obstacles or barriers may I face that will sabotage my motivation?
  • What stops or reduces my motivation?
  • How can I overcome those obstacles?
  • What is the one step I can take right now to move closer to my goal?
  • What habits can I create to increase my motivation?

I was like; I have answers to some and others I don't know. I need to find out where I'm lagging. I know what I want to be but still don't know my actual potential. Something is missing; yes, I found that; work ethics and dedication is missing. We all must have our work ethics designed by ourselves to head towards success. I need to develop a positive mindset to do my best in whatever I'm doing right now.

The first thing that came up to my mind is the biggest sabotage between me and my goal is social media. I'm not saying that it's absolute deficient, it's good, but at the same time, it is too much addicting. One can't resist their artificial intelligence-based feeds recommendation without opening it once. Social media drains our energy and reduces our focus. It entertains us simultaneously; it also destroys our valuable time and decreases our attention span and concentration level.

The other thing that reduces my motivation is the fear to fail. We live in a society where others criticisms matter more on our own thoughts. Even we stop taking risks, trying out new things just because of that fear or maybe what will happen if I won't achieve what I was thinking at the starting. But, it's always wise to learn, even from the criticism of people around you.

We must have faith in ourselves. We need to dream whatever we want and try to do, whatever it takes to achieve our goal. Many people are not dedicated, don't do hard work, don't follow work ethics, and dream of being the best; however, it will not bring much success. Be conscious of your daily routine to detect harmful habits and try to replace them.

Continuing my story, what I did was I minimised using WhatsApp and other social media for a week and analyse my week-long activity. I completed some certificate courses, started exploring my interest; my ikigai. Also what i found is my brain is animated a lot. Thinking capacity increased. It no more masquerade to be fresh.

The foremost step one must take to achieve his/her goal is to start believing in oneself. One need to change mindset and attitude. We need to find happiness in whatever we are doing, more precisely, the happiness of always being busy. Having a youthful mind will always drive you towards a healthy lifestyle. I think we should be crazy to achieve what we want to. If we want to shine, we have to be crazy.

After minimising the use of social media for a month, I found that there is a force, a law of attraction precisely law of inertia that keeps motivating me to explore things, to work, stay away from distractions. A few days ago I started reading Japanese bestseller ikigai and of course, my views in this article reflects many concepts from ikigai. My perspective towards doing something changed. I started finding joy in whatever I'm doing.

Today, the world is changing in a faster way so do we. I don't encourage an envious competition with your colleagues, but yes, healthy competition will lead you all to a great height. Try to be always one step ahead of time. Try to push yourself beyond limits. Develop new skills. It's not enough to be good, be the best in your area. Many will say it's what you make, just smile and reply it's up to fate.

Doing something repeatedly daily will eventually turn into your habit. So this how I restrict myself from using social media and engaging myself in productive works, which helps my body, brain and eyes, and I'm gaining knowledge at a constant rate. And giving it a little bit of acceleration each day. This is what motivates me and push me out of my comfort zone to achieve something. This is my ikigai.

I think sometimes it's better to be all alone and try to analyse yourself. Figure out the areas where you need to work. Self-assessment is the best way to increase productivity, and I did the same and still doing it in intervals of time. It helps me to stay on track, find and explore different fields, my ikigai.

This is a golden opportunity. Go with the flow. All one need is a focused mind, free from worries, have control over yourself.
