The art of being consistent is very unappreciated and hard to accomplish. To achieve your desired success, you will need to have a lot of self-control. Consistency is a fundamental key in developing your future life. It’s normal to sometimes get distracted with our problems and consequently to lose track of our responsibilities. Don’t freak out that is completely normal, but keep in mind that you still need consistency to get one step closer to your dream life.

Consistency will oblige you to focus on your tasks every day. This may seem excessive, but you will have a clearer vision of what you are doing wrong, how you can correct it, and how to improve what you are doing right. It is also important to verify if that task is making you closer to your goal.

1. Build positive routines

Firstly I will talk about the creation of positive routines. Daily chores like cooking, working, cleaning, normally make the positive energy we have for the day, vanish. You need the motivation to be the most productive you can be. Create a realistic schedule that includes the daily chores and that is based on yourself, don’t try to copy others we all function in different ways. The next step is adding tasks to pursue your goals(it can go from starting a side hustle to bringing in a certain fitness level, learning a new skill, reading more,…)

2. Revisit your goals weekly

I recently heard a quote that since then has been stuck in my mind.

“If you are supposed to be at work on Friday at 7 a.m, you’re gonna be there. But when you tell yourself that you are gonna start working on your dreams on Friday, and you don’t. There is a lack of respect for yourself. You have to show up for yourself.”

Revisiting your goals frequently will motivate you to continue, it will remind you of what’s the purpose of your daily work and sacrifice. If you are failing countless times, to be consistent is because “you don’t respect yourself, you don’t consider yourself capable of achieving bigger things.” Until you resolve this problem there ain’t much you can do, you need to have self-love and confidence in who you are.

3. Find ways to improve your skills

As I mentioned in rule nº1, we need to search for improvements to make. I believe it’s very important to be self-critic in a positive approach. All humans make mistakes and are imperfect, so as we are a part of this group, we should think about mastering our skills. Nowadays there are a lot of possible methods, that will help take your skills to the next level, such as reading books about the topic, doing online or physical courses, and for me the most efficient chatting with people.

4. Don’t be afraid to say no

Most people seem to have a fear of saying no to others, usually, this happens because either they want to avoid conflicts or confrontation. A misconception is that the ability to deny will make you seem like a rude person. It empowers you to make decisions, it empowers you to make choices for yourself when you say no to things. This means that you have enough power to stick to your choices and preferences. When we say no, it means we are making our lives less complicated and stress-free.

5. Embrace the process

Success comes from embracing the process and the daily growth that inevitably comes with it. Some days are good, some days are bad. Some days it seems like we’re just months away from breaking out, and some days we’re on the verge of giving up. I know this process can be tiring. But that’s also part of the fun. As you learn to channel your energy properly, not too low on bad days, not too high on good days. You will realize that dreams don’t happen overnight, if they did, It wouldn’t be as rewarding.

6. Build small celebrations for yourself

As all this process can be exhausting, my last rule is all about relaxing and taking time for yourself. Balance is a key aspect of living a healthy life, and the most important thing is that we feel good about ourselves. To help have this balanced life, you need to take time for yourself, as you need to be strict with yourself. Take the time to do what pleases you the most, regularly. Celebrate every goal you achieve as it was your last day on earth.
