How to Be A Better You!

Tips on how to feel great about yourself!

By Samantha ZoshPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

I know this is something that a lot of people struggle with! Maybe your that lucky one that doesn't have a hard time with it! Either way, these are hard enough times we are going through. Here are some tips on how to feel and be better for yourself!

Exercise- You probably hear this A LOT but sorry to break it to you sister, it's true! From personal experience, I can definitely say that when I had hard times and I would work out I felt better! Exercise helps circulate blood flow and you get more oxygen. It doesn't have to be daily maybe 2-3 times a week for 30 minutes. It definitely doesn't have to be extraneous.

Sunlight- Get yourself outside! With COVID going on we shouldn't be leaving the house but you could sit in your backyard or front lawn and just sit out for a little while! Technically you're not leaving your house.

Recognize negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones! Remember to breathe and if you're having a tough time it's only temporary! The more positive you think and are aware of negative thoughts the easier it is to replace them.

Eat better! Yes, you definitely hear this ALL around but this is also true! When I was for the most part vegan during pregnancy I found out that it was the only diet I could keep down. Now I'm not saying go vegan but maybe add more superfoods to your diet. More fruits and vegetables and eat at fast food places once in a while.

SLLEEEP! Maintain a regular schedule. (Wish I could do this haha!) Create a routine! Brush your teeth, put on your pajamas, do something calming for the night. Write, read a book, or listen to quiet relaxing music. Try to avoid your phone, television, or any physical activity. Practicing and making a routine for yourself will help you get into thinking this is what I have to do every night and hopefully, you'll wake up refreshed!

Surround yourself with positive people. Get rid of negative and unhealthy things and people from your life. This will help you live and think more positively. You might become more aware of what and who's toxic in your life and you'll feel better after you've weeded out the negativity.

Practice gratitude- Keep in mind what you're grateful for. Maybe keep a journal to write down what or who your grateful for! Putting these thoughts permanently down on paper help you realize what's in your life and helps keep your motivation.

Forgive and let go of anger. I KNOW this one is hard! I try and practice it myself. It is challenging most of the time recently, especially when things don't go to plan or when you just have a lot going on. When you're angry do something to relieve that anger. Make sure to always take time to yourself!

Self-care! This is a BIG one! The better you take care of yourself the better you feel! Treat yourself to something nice! Maybe have a spa day or have coffee/tea. Read your favorite book, go for a drive/walk, listen to your favorite music, and maybe try/ practice yoga.

In the end, everyone struggles! NO one is PERFECT! Try not to dwell on negatives too long. Do something that makes you happy and puts you in a positive place. You might not know what that is but explore! There are so many options you could think that you don't like something and then end up liking it anyway. (Like me and swing/ ballroom dancing lol) You could pick up new hobbies you didn't know you liked!

Hope you got something from this and I wish you well on your self positivity journey! ~XOXO Sam
