Finding Happiness Again

All that's needed is a few things

By KyndallPublished 5 years ago 3 min read

It is okay to be different. Find your happiness. Follow your dreams. These are a few reminders I tell myself daily to stay encouraged and to keep going.

Growing up I always wanted my own business. Whether it be a franchise or my own business, I always wanted to have a business. Growing up my Mom sold and made jewelry. She still does, but not as she used. I would always ask her to make bracelets for me. I had the fun part of picking out the beads and laying them out. After a while, I asked her to teach me how to make bracelets instead of always asking her. After I learned I fell in love with the process. From picking out the beads to designing a layout to learning how to tie a knot to cutting off the excess string without cutting the knot. In 2018 I took the leap and started my own business Lucy Lynn Boutique. Which sold women's clothing and handmade bracelets made with natural stones. That business was going alright and brought happiness into my life because it served as a creative outlet from my 9-5. I loved finding inspiration and just being able to sit and create.

In May 2019, my life forever changed. A bright supportive light in my life had passed away, my Grandma. She had always supported me, encouraged me, and always made sure others were taken care of. Losing her had a big impact on me. I felt a void in my happiness when she passed and had a hard time filling it. To the point, I stopped working on my business, Lucy Lynn Boutique, and stopped making bracelets. Which was huge because I would make a few bracelets weekly. This eventually led me to close Lucy Lynn Boutique and focus on my overall being. Which was difficult, but I knew it needed to be done so I could focus on my overall well-being and find my happiness. Since then I have been working on it and can confidently say that I am in a better place.

In August 2020 I started back making bracelets, just for myself. Which was an amazing feeling since it had been a few months since I had made one. My cutting skills were a little rusty but using Fiskars scissors helped me get my groove back. Easy to hold and sharp enough to cut the string. In October 2020 I opened Lucy Lynn Party. Which is a party supply store that has unique and creative party supplies for the individuals that celebrate and cherish life moments. Which sells greeting cards, confetti, and fully colored custom printed balloons. But I thought about how I can differentiate Lucy Lynn Party from other party supply stores. So, I thought of the idea of selling bracelets. That way a person can buy a complete gift from one shop instead of multiple. Purchase a quality card and a handmade bracelet, that is a complete gift. From what I have seen, that are not many party supply stores that offer that. Offering customers, a one-stop-shop, providing quality products and helping them create joyful memories.

By doing this, it has helped me find happiness again and continue to go after my dream. Which is simply getting back to creating. Yes, I have my moments from time to time, but I remind myself of a few things which are:

It is okay to be different.

Find your happiness.

Follow your dreams.

I never would have thought that making bracelets could bring me happiness, but grateful it did and is still. A pair of scissors, string, beads and a board can truly make a difference.

Create joyful memories and happiness!
