Personally, when I hear the word "lifestyle", I think of living a life in which one's schedule, routine, activities, and habits, provide them with satisfaction, fulfillment, reward, balance, and enjoyment, whilst keeping themselves healthy in the process. Perhaps that is how you also perceive lifestyle as being? Interestingly, lifestyle is defined as nothing more than the way in which an individual lives. One thing that is for sure, the way in which we live our life should indeed bring us great happiness, satisfaction, fulfillment, pleasure, and enjoyment, otherwise we are not really living at all, but rather existing. I'd like to say that's how most of us live our lives, and it's probably what most people would say they are doing, just to keep up appearances, but the truth is, most people are indeed not at all happy with their lifestyle whatsoever. You only need to look at various social media posts, or have a chin wag with people, and you'll quickly hear, or see, the complaints and unhappiness come to the surface. Lifestyle, of course, can be broken down into various different components. There's work, family life, relationship, sleep, exercise, diet, leisure activities, socializing, health (including mental health), goals, spirituality, and even finance. To tick the boxes in each of these categories is one hell of an achievement, as we know that life often throws us curve balls, and there's always some area suffering adversity, and in need of attention. These adversities are a given, and can often be a sign that something is not right in our in life. Perhaps we are with someone who is not the right fit for us, or we are somewhere we shouldn't be, or doing something we shouldn't be doing, or we are just heading in the wrong direction in life.

Circumstances can often become very uncomfortable for us, and the longer we continue to avoid addressing them, hoping they just sort themselves out, and most importantly, the longer we avoid acting upon them and making changes, the worse they get. As a result, we become more frustrated, agitated, angry, unhappy, and even depressed. All of a sudden, what starts as one aspect of our lifestyle becoming uncomfortable, begins impacting on other areas of our life also. We become negative minded and dismayed at things falling apart all around us. The problem here though, is that so many of us just fail to address these issues, perhaps because we are fearful of making changes, fearful of how others may react or judge us, fearful of a negative financial impact, fearful that we don't have the capability to turn things around, fearful that making a change may only end up leading us into a worse situation, or maybe it's just because we couldn't be bothered, because it looks too challenging for us. Therefore, we don't do anything. We settle. We settle for living a life, where at least one aspect is never going to offer us happiness, satisfaction, and fulfillment. Guaranteed though, there's always more than one aspect that isn't delivering us these rewards in life, and that's because if we fail to act on one aspect of our life, we are no more likely to act on another either. It leaves us with an unsatisfying and unhappy lifestyle.

For example, we are always tired and lethargic, because we only average 5 to 6 hours of sleep each night, but we don't make changes because we believe there are other more important things to be doing in those extra two hours, rather than add them to our sleep. Such a belief is rubbish though, as achieving 7 to 9 hours sleep is crucial to recharging and re-energizing our body and mind, and imperative for our health. We cannot be at our most efficient and effective without the required amount of sleep our body requires, plus we open our health up to risks such as heart disease, obesity, diabetes, and stroke, when we continue to deprive our body of the rest it needs. Perhaps we are unhappy with our job, and maybe we have job hopped in the past, in order to find a better solution, yet we still remain unsatisfied. Rather than investigating different work options however, including entrepreneurship, we instead settle for the fact that work sucks, and 45 years of our life are going to be miserable. Maybe we are sick and tired of financially struggling, yet rather than trade our 9 to 5 job mindset in, for looking at working opportunities that have the potential to create wealth, we again settle. We don't want to risk our precious paycheck to do something that may not work out, or that involves lots of hard work, effort, and commitment, so we don't make any changes, which leaves us to continually struggle financially. Maybe we are overweight, and we can't even bear the thought of looking at ourselves in the mirror. It's a case of committing to a daily intense exercise routine, and making changes to our diet, for some healthier options, but for most people, they don't have that will power to do so. It takes effort to get off the couch and exert some energy, plus they have no resistance to indulging in those snacks and fast foods.

The simple fact is, we cannot ever live the life, or create a lifestyle, that brings us happiness, satisfaction, fulfillment, and enjoyment, unless we are prepared to make changes, take risks, and put in the hard work and effort. It's not just about making a change, and then committing to that change for a little while, it's an ongoing commitment. It takes a lot of hard work, patience, resilience, and dedication, but if we are genuinely driven and determined to improve our life and our lifestyle, we would do it. In doing so, when we completely transform our life and our lifestyle, to achieve that happiness, satisfaction, and fulfillment, we desire, we also gain growth and strength in the process, and they are what we become most proud of. If your not living a lifestyle that you desire, what are you doing about it? Are you doing anything about it? You'll know within yourself where the opportunities for change and improvement are, and likely you will even know what you need to do about it, but now, it's all about taking action. We only get one life to live, and we are on borrowed time, so we need to make sure we make the time count. To do so, we need to live life in happiness, satisfaction, and fulfillment, and that means the decisions we make, and actions we take, should be revolving around making this happen. Identify the areas in your life that are making you unhappy and uncomfortable, and then make some changes. Even if you believe there is risk involved to make certain changes, you are actually risking your future anyway, by not taking those risks. It's better to fail in the pursuit for improvement, than to fail through inaction, because you only need to pick yourself and keep striving for that goal, which is a success in itself, courtesy of your resilience and determination. It's time to fight for the lifestyle you desire! Fight off everything that is holding you back, and fight for the future you deserve.
