Feelings Are Becoming Our Biggest Adversaries on the Path to Victory

Don’t fall into the trap of demotivation

“I don’t feel like going today, man,” said Tim when I asked if he wanted to join me as I prepared to head to the gym. His voice sounded a bit annoyed that I even mentioned it.

I didn’t push him. Maybe next time.

However, this made me think about the feeling of lacking motivation. It appears after we decide to create a healthy habit or routine to take our lives to another level. The beginning feels rewarding and full of excitement but soon comes a day when all positivity fades away.

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going. — Jim Ryun

Many people quit while some stick around. For the latter emotions change every day. Up and down, but they ride these waves.

Very often part of the people, that stayed faithful and committed, lose the rhythm of consistency and end up transitioning into a complete stop.

Those that don’t quit are sticking to the habit not because it’s a smooth ride, but because they’re stubborn. Good kind of stubborn. In other words, they have a strong will.

Isn’t it obvious that quitting knocks the chance of success completely?

As long as you’re on your feet, the battle is not yet finished.

The feeling of demotivation suggests that you already failed. Yet you stand strong on your feet ready to take another step forward.

People that quit gave into the illusion, accepted it as reality. It actually became their reality.

The reality is that every single day your chances of becoming the best at something increases because almost everyone around you escapes the game.

Why It’s an Illusion?

Time after time I felt like it’s not the day to write. Although, when I sat down, I recounted my goals and dreams. I encouraged myself to continue when it felt like there was a brick wall on my path.

An hour or two later, I had pushed through the emotional demotivation and was running down the path of the goal with my heart overflowing with excitement.

At the end f these days, I struggle to stop writing! If I would've given up because of the feeling of not feeling like writing I wouldn't have experienced this place of flow and joy.

Demotivation often appears to be a mirage. It feels good to conquer it! On top of that, it gets easier to do it every time because of the number of experiences before.

I don't allow my lack of motivation to tell me what to do or what not to do.

We will always feel more motivated to watch Netflix because the reward comes after putting in almost no effort. However, you have dreams and you should definitely do something about them.

You might have a difficult day or week and there s no positive emotional boost to stick to your goals.

If you do only what you feel like, you’re not in charge of your life. Your feelings are.

The truth is that if you quit, you won’t feel better. Your bad day won’t become better by you starting to wear a badge of failure. No, it will only make it more miserable.

Continue and you will see the results of your work. Don’t allow your feelings to tell you what is and what’s not. The bottom line is that you decided to do a certain activity to reach a specific point in your life.

That’s more real than any emotional illusion of strong demotivation.

It’s Time You Take The Control

People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well, neither does bathing — that’s why we recommend it daily. — Zig Ziglar

Motivation wears out but your determination shouldn’t. It’s our responsibility not to live by our feeling but according to our choices.

Everything we have today comes from someone who determined not to quit. The building you’re in, the device you’re reading this from comes from people who not only stuck until they build something but also conquered the crowds that said it’s hard or impossible.

Are you willing to prove to your feelings and other people that your dream is valuable?
