DOROTI

And the Pirates

By Stephen BetancourtPublished 3 years ago 4 min read
Welcome to Miami

In the verdant meadows of 16th-century England, a young woman named Doroti resided. Her countenance seemed to radiate with the beauty of a Greek goddess, and her intellect rivaled that of the greatest scholars of the era. Doroti, the sole daughter of a noble family, found herself at a crossroads after her father's sudden demise. The inheritance bequeathed to her was the kingdom's most fertile lands.

However, her brother-in-law, an ambitious and malevolent man, forced her to marry a young adventurer named Luis. This stoic young man lived on a pirate island and had multiple women in his company. Initially, Doroti and Luis struggled to adapt to their forced marriage. Their differences were stark: she longed for stability and security, while he sought freedom and excitement.

Life on the pirate island proved to be challenging for Doroti. The clash of cultures and the presence of other women in Luis's life created tensions. However, an unexpected accident united them in a perilous adventure. For days, they fought together against the elements and overcame countless obstacles. They discovered the strength of their love as they desperately searched for water and food on a small, barren island.

Just when all seemed lost, a miracle occurred. They stumbled upon a bridge that led to the unexplored edge of the island. Crossing it, they found themselves in Cape Ivory, Africa. There, their fate took an unexpected turn as they were detained by a vulgar and rude English captain. The captain sold Luis as a slave to the Zulu, while he took Doroti and forced her into marriage.

Ten long years passed, and Doroti bore three children with the English captain. One of them was named "Luisito." However, Luisito grew up yearning to find his mother's true husband and set him free. Together, father and son embarked on a dangerous journey in search of the English captain. Finally, they found him wounded in a makeshift hospital, with a finger injury. Posing as nurses, they allowed him to perish while celebrating their reunion as a family.

That very night, Doroti's brother-in-law revealed to her that she had only inherited a small house in Asturias. However, she discovered her brother-in-law's willingness to give up his life if, by chance, she were to plunge a dagger into his chest. Faced with such an idea, Doroti took action and reclaimed her inheritance.

Upon arriving in Asturias with her family, the king, moved by her tale of courage and resilience, bestowed upon Doroti a noble title. Now, as a woman of power and prestige, Doroti enjoyed her inheritance and the love of her family. Her story proved that even in the midst of the most harrowing adversities, one could find triumph and reclaim what was rightfully theirs.

So now, In the splendid courts of 16th-century, the young Duchess Doroti resided. Her grace and elegance were unmatched, and her intellect surpassed that of the most erudite scholars of the time. After the death of her husband, the pirate Luis, the Duchess received another pirate inheritance—an elusive treasure on an island north of Canada. However, due to societal constraints at the court, she was unable to embark on this adventure herself.

In light of this, she entrusted her son, Luisito, and her five other siblings to undertake the perilous journey. They set sail on a magnificent ship of the era, accompanied by 200 prisoners who had enlisted for the voyage. They procured all manner of provisions and maps, preparing for the arduous expedition that lay ahead. Months passed as they braved not only the challenges of nature, including three waterspouts, but also the biting cold that led to the freezing deaths of two of their siblings and 80% of the crew.

Upon reaching their destination, they encountered fierce native tribes who fought ferociously for the treasure. Tragically, another brother perished in the midst of this clash. Disheartened and overcome with sorrow, Luisito contemplated surrendering, feeling defeated. However, fate had other plans in store for him. He discovered love when a native woman, unclothed, ventured onto their ship one fateful night. She found him and persuaded him to steal the treasure together. Bound by their forbidden alliance, they shared a passionate kiss to seal their pact.

In a stunning turn of events, they emerged victorious against their adversaries, escaping with the treasure. As they sailed back to Asturias, they were intercepted by the formidable English naval fleet, who raised the pirate flag and seized the treasure in the name of the British king. Frustration and anger welled up within them, leading to a fierce struggle that claimed the lives of Luisito's remaining siblings and the remaining crew. Luisito and his beloved were imprisoned for twenty long years.

In captivity, Luisito received the heartbreaking news of his mother Doroti's passing. Consumed by rage, he unleashed his fury upon his captors, eventually managing to escape. Seeking justice, he found himself in the presence of the King of Asturias, only to discover that there was another claimant to the throne—a childhood friend who knew the truth behind his tumultuous tale. Together, they rallied their armies and launched a daring campaign to reclaim what had been lost.

Miraculously, they succeeded in recovering more than what was taken from them. Finally, Luisito and his beloved were able to marry, finding solace and happiness in each other's arms. Their love, tested through years of tribulation, stood unyielding, bringing light and joy to their lives.

In the end, despite the trials and hardships they endured, Luisito and his beloved found love, redemption, and a newfound sense of purpose. Their extraordinary journey had transformed them, shaping their destinies and solidifying their bond. Together, they celebrated their triumph and embraced the happiness they so deserved.
