Defiant determination is your ability to put everything else aside and focus on your goal. There’s no bartering and negotiating when it comes down to hard work. No goal can truly be achieved at a high level of success unless you’re willing to put yourself in an extraordinary level of success mode.

Determination is everything. I believe many people succeed because they simply keep going. They never stop. They’re always trying, working the goals and planning their success. They’re going to be the last person standing in a room filled with success seekers. These individuals have one trait- defiant determination.

How bad do you want to achieve your goal? Now is the time to gauge your success destiny by measuring your determination. I believe your biggest competitor is yourself. You’ve got to put in the time and the work to achieve the success. There’s no fast route or short cut.

Let’s examine the level of determination required for success by evaluating dedication. We’ll start with the popular goal called fitness. Why do some people have the perfect physique achieved by normal results and others don’t? Do you get up an extra hour early to go to the gym? Somebody does. Do you scrutinize your eating habits and eliminate bad foods in your diet? Somebody does. Do you take a scheduled exercise day off because you’re tired? Somebody doesn’t. Do you pay into the latest fad because you think the results will be faster? Somebody else already has a plan that’s working and they’re not fooled to pay for a new one. Fitness goals are an example of a determination method to success. Start there and get tough on yourself to see if you’re winning by evaluating your level of commitment.

I want to be very clear about defiant determination. I want you to read this article and leave with a new perspective. Reinvigorate your determination. Start thinking about how valuable your success is to you. It starts with you and it ends with you.

Now let’s examine your real competitors to find out if you’re going to be the last one standing. Examine successful people in your field. Pay attention to individuals with similar goals. Start asking yourself pertinent questions. Are you willing to get up early or stay up late to work on your goals? The time you spend is essential to achieving your goals, especially if you’re working all day and making the dream a second job. Are you able to give up redundant social gatherings and work alone on your goals instead? Again, we’re talking about time here. It’s nice to catch up with people but you need to catch up with your goals.

Do you keep a success roadmap? This is important. It allows you to define your goals and then create a plan you can put into action. You can check off every benchmark and readjust your goals. Do you measure your habits regarding all areas necessary for your success? This is essential because you don’t want to attain success only to have a failing character flaw destroy your winnings.

Do you study and learn to attain your goals? Everything is a craft from competitive sports to entrepreneurial enterprises. You must constantly stay in touch with the newest technology, trends and tools available to learn more about your goals. For example, an outdated keyboard might be fun for a musician to collect but in order to compete at the highest level of success; a new keyboard may be required for recording music.

I encourage you to redefine your determination. How bad do you want success? Your answer must be examined. If you think you’re doing everything possible to achieve your goal, get hungry. Somebody else is working a bit more than you. They’re skipping the concert, getting up two hours earlier, ignoring the smartphone, educating themselves, adjusting their goals, tidying up their work area, making more calls, producing more work, ditching the latte time and loving every minute of the challenge. Meet your competitors. Now look in the mirror. First, you must compete against yourself. In order to achieve the success you desire, be aware of your competitors but start with yourself.

Defiant determination really is about you. If you’re reading this at four in the morning or midnight to improve your success level, then I better get to work on mine.
