177 Passages That Stand Out

"Curiosity is one of the most permanent and certain characteristics of a vigorous intellect."

I 100% agree - The more questions you ask, the more opportunity you can learn.

"The great ones are always curious because they always seek an edge."

I was a curious child and always wanted to know why I had to do something or why a concept was considered "true." I questioned everything, which is one of my core values.

Assimilation and adoption, without question, are dangerous; everyone could be going in the wrong direction, and you're simply following their path. It's easier to follow the leader than to be the leader. Deviate and stay curious to know the best way to live for you.

"At the root of their curiosity is the belief that one new idea, or one new twist on an old idea, could launch them to the next level."

Earl Nightingale urges his listeners to write down 20 ideas a day. Why? This exercise stimulates the mind and forces you to always think about the next big thing for yourself and the next greatest solution for others.

New ideas can transform how the world works. A perfect example of this is Amazon; Bezos changed the game.

New ideas can also transform your results from life.

"While ordinary people tend to take things at face value, world-class performers are curious to know how and why something works to make new distinctions that may benefit them."

Never accept things at face value. Consider the intricacies and explore the depths of concepts, ideas, philosophies, and beliefs. Don't stop at the first question; dig deeper. Always go deeper to genuinely understand people and the way the world works.

"Champions have a childlike curiosity and tend to approach the world with a mindset that says, "Teach me."

Children tend to be super open-minded, super curious, and super malleable. Maintain these child-like qualities to accelerate your successful outcomes.

"Their worldview tells them there is much more to learn in even the simplest aspects of life."

I recall my sister teaching me the proper way to eat: Veggies > Protein > Fats > Carbs

I quickly realized this was already the way I ate because I hated that feeling I get when I eat something high in carbs or sugar, and then my energy plummets or I immediately feel like sh*t. Hence, many of my breakfast meals start with protein and veggies. Skip the sugary breakfast meals.

However, she was able to explain the reasoning behind this proper order further, which is to prevent blood sugar spikes (which you can still get even when you don't eat sugary foods), and this encouraged me to continue this habit with more consistency and urgency.

In the long term, repeated spikes in blood sugar can cause heart problems, kidney problems, problems with eyesight, and nerve issues like neuropathy, which causes loss of feeling in fingers and toes (MD Anderson Cancer Center).

The more they know, the more they realize how much they don't know about anything, including their expertise.

Stay humble and kick your ego out the door. Ego prevents you from acquiring new learning experiences and applicable knowledge 99% of the time. Be receptive and easygoing when acquiring new information. And continue digging for more information to explore and make new connections. There's always another path of exploration worthwhile.

They approach their work with the mindset of a beginner - eager to learn and open to new ideas.

Always approach new jobs, relationships, and experiences as if you know nothing. This will prepare you to adopt and learn different strategies and to improve or refine your current knowledge.

Champions are masters at learning from other people's experiences because they are always asking questions.

My favorite way to learn is via watching/observation of others.

When you constantly ask questions and observe how others live, your learning never ceases, and you accelerate your personal development and growth.

177 Exercise Action Step for Today: The next time you socialize with friends or associates, see how many questions you can ask each about what they do and why they do it. Get as many details as possible. Most people have great suggestions for solving problems, yet no one asks for their opinion. Your curiosity and a beginner's mindset may yield unexpected solutions you can implement immediately.
