“it’s alright if you run out of breath, no one will blame you”
Currently, kids are pressured to do well in everything. They hide away in their room to stay away from parents and adults because they maintain a fear of being judged by society, for their looks, personality, and more.
I grew up in a vast city named Winnipeg, remembered best for its chilly weather. I was known as the outgoing girl who never could keep her mouth shut which made people believe I was annoying, rapidly turning into getting bullied by a young boy I liked. After a while, I moved away from Winnipeg to a city near Toronto. At first, I was really upset about having to move away from my father, he’s an influential person in my life because he has always been supporting me no matter what. Since I didn't always have him around to support me, I started putting my emotions to writing and listening to songs.
”It’s okay to make mistakes sometimes because everyone can do so”
One of the most important songs to me is Breathe by Jonghyun, an idol who took his own life on December 18, 2017, because of stress and not feeling accepted by the community. This song makes me feel comforted, that it is okay to make mistakes in life because everyone does. It seems like he wrote this song to make everyone who is suffering from depression feel loved and to tell them that they aren't any less important than anyone else. Listening to a comforting song is the best feeling, even if someone is not actually there for you in person, they are still hoping that you do well in life and that you are cheerful. Even if you're a loner or just like to spend time alone, you enjoy when someone is there to tell you that things will eventually get better.
”although comforting by saying it's alright, they are just words”
A lot of children with depression have confessed that they do not tell their therapists or whoever is helping them with depression, everything they are feeling because the person does not know or trust the therapist. Most of the time, when people open up about their problems then tell someone to not tell anyone, the person who found out will tell an adult or another child. That makes someone lose trust, the last thing a person needs is to get attacked with questions. It might seem harmless to ask questions about other’s problems but opening up about things is a lot harder than you think. The person with the problems feels backstabbed if these kinds of situations keep happening the person will soon lose their trust in people.
”someone’s breath, that heavy breath”
Breathing should be easy but unfortunately, it is difficult for people with anxiety. Just take a moment to breathe in and out, get comfortable in your tiny circle to keep people away than take a small step out. Gazing at the population from afar can not hurt too greatly, remember to take tiny steps until you are satisfied. You might feel like no one cares about you but at the end of the day, you will find someone to be there for you.
”though I can't understand your breath, it's alright, I'll hold you”
To anyone reading this;
Good job today! Keep on working to your goal! You are beautiful, talented, smart and more. Even if someone tells you, you are not good enough, don't believe them because you don't deserve to be put down like that. You are loved and appreciated.
