Rohit Gurunath Sharma is an Indian international cricketer and the current captain of the Indian cricket team. Considered as one of the best opening batters of all time, Rohit is known for his timing, elegance, six-hiting abilities and leadership skills.
Rohit Sharma (born: 30 April 1987), (Bharang: 10 Vaishakh 1909) is an Indian international cricketer, currently the captain of the Indian cricket team. He is considered one of the best batsmen. He captains Mumbai Indians in IPL. It was under his captaincy that Mumbai Indians became champions for a record five times.
Rohit Sharma is the new star of Indian cricket. He is kept in the best batsman in the world. His full name is Rohit Gurunath Sharma. At present, Rohit has made his identity as the opener batsman of the Indian cricket team in ODIs and T20s.

Apart from this, Rohit is also known for his batting in Test matches. He is also the captain of Mumbai Indians of Ambani Group. Rohit is the only player in the world who has scored 2 double centuries in ODIs.
Rohit Sharma was born on 30 April 1987 to father Gurunath Sharma and mother Purnima Sharma, working in a transport firm house. In early life, Rohit Sharma's family had to struggle a lot for livelihood. Due to lack of money, Rohit's childhood was spent with his grandfather, he used to come occasionally to meet his parents.
Rohit had a brother. Rohit was attracted to cricket since childhood, later his uncle got him admitted in a cricket camp. Seeing Rohit's talent, the coach there, Dinesh Lad got Rohit's school changed by getting him a scholarship. Rohit started his career as a bowler, but his batting talent gradually blossomed when he scored a century in a match with a school.

Rohit's career as a player
Rohit Sharma's batting impressed many coaches, resulting in his selection for West Zone against Central Zone in the 2005 Deodhar Trophy. But could not do anything special in that match, after that played an unbeaten 142 against North Zone. This inning brought him into the limelight and he got the opportunity to play in the Champions Trophy by being included in the list of thirty-member potential players.
In this sequence, he was also selected in the NKP Salve Trophy. Due to his consistent performance, he was selected for India A in 2006 for the match against New Zealand. In the same year, he also got a chance to play in Ranji Trophy. After the initial failure, he again impressed the selectors by scoring a double century and a half-century against Gujarat and Bengal respectively. Due to his consistent performance, he was made the captain of the Mumbai Ranji team in 2014.

Due to his consistent performance in domestic cricket, the selectors selected him for the matches against India and Ireland. Rohit did not get any chance to bat in the match played in Belfast. In the T20 match in September 2007, Rohit scored a brilliant 50 in front of South Africa's sharp bowling, and also won the team by excellent fielding.
Due to his performance, the Indian team also got the opportunity to play in the semi-finals. After this Sharma also played a good inning against Pakistan. Rohit's best game in ODIs was seen in the match against Pakistan in Australia and from here he started making his mark in international cricket. Due to the arrival of new players in Halink Beach, he did not get a place in the team.
He scored a triple century in Ranji Trophy in 2009 and again attracted the selectors towards him. He was selected in the match against Bangladesh but did not get a chance to play in that series. Meanwhile, he was selected for the Test team but had to stay out due to injury while practicing. Due to bad luck, failure and better performance of new players, it became almost impossible to make a place in the team. The saddest thing is that he had to stay out of the 2011 World Cup match as well.
